Job Summary


The Senior Payroll Associate is primarily responsible for the processing of weekly payroll in an accurate and timely manner. This includes but is not limited to employee record maintenance, union reporting and the reconciliation of related general ledger accounts. Also must rely on experience and judgment to make minor decisions regarding payroll issues and to provide guidance for Payroll Associates.

Essential Functions



  • Actively support the Company's commitment to Safety and its "Core Values."

  • Represent the Company at all times with high moral standards while adhering to the company's "Code of Business Ethics."

  • Setup new payroll classes in Penta

  • Update union deduction and fringe benefit information ensure payroll procedures conform to terms outlined in collective bargaining agreements

  • Enter all employee transactions to database including new hires, rehires, job changes and terminations in a timely and accurate manner

  • Review timesheets to ensure accuracy

  • Process weekly payroll for 500+ employees

  • Print and distribute checks to employees

  • Quickly and accurately respond to and resolve employees payroll questions and problems regarding discrepancies in a timely fashion

  • Verify payroll accruals and prepare union reports

  • Run hour and cost reports for Project Managers

  • Provide wage information and employment verifications

  • Responsible for all aspects of union payroll audits

  • Prepare certified payroll reports

  • Provide training and guidance to payroll clerks

  • Perform other responsibilities as directed.


Qualifications



  • 4+ years payroll experience in union environment

  • 2+ years general accounting experience

  • Associates degree or 6-9 hours of college accounting preferred

  • Excellent computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Strong organizational and communication skills required; must be a self-motivated individual.

  • Strong detail orientation; must have ability to analyze information and identify discrepancies.

  • Leadership and decision-making skills.
