Job Description

Belden is looking for a highly skilled Architect to drive the implementation, architecture and design of the next- generation intelligent cloud and edge platform software across its diverse portfolio of multi-branded multi-vertical solutions. We're focused on the Industrial Internet of Things and Edge application space. The Architect will be a collaborator and a thought leader for a team of dedicated engineers, as well as working with and across various other engineering teams at Belden that are building advanced integrated solutions. This presents an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to work on the leading edge platform in a successful global business to achieve superior velocity, value, and scalability.

The successful candidate will be hands on and curious with a focus on technology, scalability and portability, demonstrating the willingness and ability to actively shape product and systemic architectures. Our ideal candidate has a deep understanding of hardware-software code design for multiple target architectures and a keen eye in managing and avoiding technical debt, as well as the capability to analyze and approach architectural planning from multiple angles.

Responsibilities

De?ne the embedded software architecture for a multi-platform cloud/edge integrative environment that includes Ethernet switches, ?rewalls, routers and edge processing products

Develop platform software and collaborate across engineering groups to maximize the use of common emerging platform technologies, conventions and technological building blocks.

Collaborate with Product Management, Architects and Product Owners from various teams and Executive leaders to support the business and technical strategy

Collaborate with global engineering leads at various Belden businesses to establish and drive adoption of conventions and innovation

This position has the growth potential to transition into a team lead and people leader position

Required Skills

6+ years of experience in platform software development

4+ years of architecture, design, implementation, and/or support of embedded software platform architectures for multiple hardware designs, having an architectural sense for ensuring availability, reliability, scalability and security

Strong exposure to programming languages such as C, C++, Java, Python and Go Good experience with embedded systems testing and code coverage

Experience building CI/CD pipelines. Devops and Devsecops, version control, and system testing with Gitlab and Jenkins.

Experience with implementing containerization solutions, e.g. Docker in an embedded software environment Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as Hyper-V, vSphere, and vCenter.

Experience with IaC using Ansible or Terraform

Experience implementing systems tracing with Jaeger and Opentracing. Familiarity with protocol level tracing with Wireshark.

Familiar with cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure Willingness to learn and teach complex technologies

Voracious need to document code and catalog data transformations

Experience with the following technologies a bonus:

Messaging systems (Kafka, ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ)
