Intellectual Property Manager at Bio-Rad Laboratories in Hercules, California

Job Description:

Bio-Rad is looking for an in-house Intellectual Property Manager to conduct and manage intellectual property searching, including conducting prior art searches, patentability searches and freedom-to-operate searches to support our Life Sciences Research and Clinical Diagnostics businesses.

Responsibilities

• Develops, coordinates, and executes IP search strategy to support:
  
  
  • New product development process.
  
  
  • Freedom-to-operate studies.
  
  
  • Patent landscaping studies.
  
  
  • In-licensing and out-licensing opportunities.
  
  
  • M&A opportunities.
  
  
  
  


• Works closely with IP team and business managers to assess the needs of the business.


• Develops appropriate IP search strategy and conducts database searches.


• Generates IP search reports.


• Reviews and analyzes results of IP searches with the IP Legal and business teams.


• Participate in meetings with IP Legal and business teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in biological science or engineering, advanced degree preferred.


• In-depth understanding of U.S. and ex-U.S. patent processes.


• Knowledge and experience with searching IP databases.


• 5+ years' experience in developing and analyzing intellectual property.


• Law firm or Corporate IP experience preferred.


• Law degree, a plus.
