JOB DESCRIPTION:

Summary: The Quality Assurance Engineer II plans and conducts activities concerned with the quality assurance of machinery and systems.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.                     


  • Plans and conducts analysis, inspection and process improvement to assure the quality of Bartelt Packaging machinery and components; drafts inspection control plans for specific components.

  • Performs quality engineering reviews of design and process documentation for compliance quality system requirements; initiates engineering change requests.

  • Develop recommend and monitor corrective and preventive actions specific to suppliers.

  • Investigate customer complaints in conjunction with engineering and manufacturing to include constructing and maintaining corrective action documentation.

  • Maintains global ISO system; oversees ASME requirements.

  • Interacts with other departments to gain information regarding non-conformance; identifies errors on documentation and communicates and initiate changes to applicable department.

  • Reviews results of quality inspection of incoming parts and components and provides input to the decision of whether to accept the product and future purchases from the vendor.

  • Works with purchasing as to the identification and qualification of new suppliers.

  • Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provides recommended process improvements to management.

  • Conducts supplier audits based on our Bartelt Packaging purchasing manual supplier guidelines.

  • Prepares reports to communicate cost of quality.

  • Prepares and presents technical and program information to team members and management.

  • Conducts yearly internal departmental audits.

  • Working in collaboration with production and leads continuous improvement/lean initiatives.

  • Sustains the 5S program by facilitating audits, assists with improvements in production, and provides reports for management; manages red tag program and disposition of valuable but unneeded items.

  • Supports key aspects of the CIP process with all teams, including team boards, huddles; facilitating escalation team meetings and maintaining the CIP action plan spreadsheet.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

Bachelor's degree in Engineering; more than five years of experience in quality assurance in a manufacturing environment involving mechanical products; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
