Receiving Department Material Handler-Hanover Park, IL

Under the direct supervision of the Distribution Supervisor, the Material Handler assists in offloading incoming materials and placing them in inventory by using powered industrial equipment. The Material Handler also assists in production by ensuring that production lines are kept fully stocked with needed materials to continue making our product in a timely manner.

You will:

• Work second shift, Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime throughout the week and/or on weekends/holidays as needed; pay for this role is $19.75/hr


• Have working knowledge of how to operate power industrial equipment (i.e. standing reach and order picker forklift trucks)


• Support manufacturing production lines by supplying raw materials needed in production process


• Perform tasks associated with material flow and inventory to ensure inventory accuracy


• Execute picks for internal delivery to production cells while validating order accuracy


• Complete daily inspections and record any unsafe conditions on power industrial equipment


• Operate a RF smart scanner


• Pack, load, and unload a variety of conveyances


• Move material within the warehouse and manufacturing plant


• Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by work area, such as safety glasses, ear plugs, hard hats, gloves, and steel toe shoes.


• Ensure a clean and safe working environment for all employees, emphasizing prevention of hazardous conditions and support Pentair's safety programs by following all established safety processes

You should:

• Have previous experience using power industrial equipment such as a stand-up and order picker forklift


• Have basic math skills


• Have the ability to speak, read, and write basic English


• Be able to follow standard work procedures


• Know how to handle complexity in a fast pace manufacturing environment


• Be able to work overtime on a regular basis


• Have excellent attendance


• Be able to lift frequently 3-25 pounds and infrequently 25-50 pounds, as well as regularly bend and reach


• Be able to stand for an entire eight hour shift


• Be able to work independently and also with a team


• Have the ability to identify unsafe conditions and report them to the department team leader, supervisor, manager, or Safety Coordinator


• Perform other duties as assigned

We like, but don't require:

• Two years previous material handler experience in a manufacturing/assembly setting


• High school diploma or equivalent


• OSHA-approved forklift license


• Basic knowledge of JDE systems and Kanban principles


• Basic knowledge of LEAN techniques


• Be able to conduct audits for Quality, 5S and Safety
