TK Elevator is seeking a Mechanical Engineer III/IV in Atlanta, GA.
As the Expert Level Mechanical Engineer with welding engineering experience, this individual will work as a company expert in the area of welding design, welding procedures, welding specifications and welding processes. To provide their knowledge of weldable materials, fabrication and inspections. To provide the organization with welding engineered designs and support other engineers with their designs. This position will help manage the welding programs, support the day to day weld repair, if needed, support plant welding processes, and support the various asset management programs. The Certified Welding Engineer will also help support the development and implementation of new welding, fabrication and weld inspection techniques and technologies. The Certified Welding Engineer will be certified by the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) and be responsible for compliance with CWB standards.
In addition, supports asset management programs and assists with inspection plans, project engineering, fitness for service, and mechanical design.
Essential Job Functions
Support the maintenance and management of welding programs for the manufacturing facility.
This includes updating and revising procedures to ensure compliance with latest codes and standards, and developing new procedures as required. This also includes developing and qualifying welding procedures for the various weld programs.
Provide technical support for welding activities on new equipment installation/design, repair or replacement activities, and fitness-for service assessments for the organization
Support welding procedure and weld repair development
Work with internal clients to develop and implement new welding technology for welding, repairing, fabrication and inspecting components, parts and structures related to elevators
Manage and coordinate small and large welding and inspection related projects
When requested, provide Welding Specifications for field projects, new product development work and/or potential new business.
Provide welding consulting services to internal designers and engineers
Support review, revisions and development of modernization and new product introductions procedures and standards.
Who we are looking for
Bachelor's degree in engineering from ABET accredited university (Welding or Welding Technology is preferred)
CWB certification or acquires certification within the first 6 -9 months of employment.
5 years' experience working as a welding engineer
experience project managing welding and/or NDE related projects where they have demonstrated the ability to direct others, coordinate work activities, develop and track a project schedule and manage a budget
Prior experience development and deploy Welding Procedure Qualification
Records (PQR's) and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
Experience in developing and qualifying welding procedures and performing welder qualifications
Experience managing company's welding program
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to lead, manage, and participate on teams with shared responsibility for outcomes and decision making
Strong organization, project management, quantitative and problem-solving skills
Proficiency with Word, Excel, Access and other Microsoft applications
The ability to take direction, work independently, and perform detailed work in a high-volume environment
