Supplier Quality Engineer at Compressor Controls in Des Moines, Iowa

Job Description:

The Supplier Quality Engineer will exhibit genuine interest in solving work problems through proactively asking questions, clearly communicating and collaborating both internally and externally to grow the business. In addition, the Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for understanding our competition and customers and showing initiative to learn and continuously improve company processes. 


The Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for analyzing supplier quality data and improving supplier performance. A main area of focus will be to transition existing products to new suppliers and implement supplier quality systems for new products.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 


Listed in order of relevance



  • Manage projects related to quality needs within the organization, both proactively and reactionary. 

  • Should have experience with, Supplier Quality Control Plans, Statistical Process Control (SPC), First Article Inspection (FAI), and Product/Process Capability. 

  • Analyze data to create acceptance criteria, specifications and control limits for product, components and manufacturing.  

  • Participate on continuous improvement project teams to implement solutions and track results.  

  • Work closely with suppliers to understand factory metrics, first pass yield, product manufacturability and quality improvement programs. 

  • Analyze and report out supplier quality metrics based on non-conformance data. 

  • Coordinate the defect containment actions and root cause analysis with suppliers. 

  • Ensure that corrective measures meet acceptable quality and reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.  

  • Facilitate the implementation of new product production and supplier transitions. 

  • Audit supplier quality systems for deficiency identification and correction.  

  • Oversee the quality assurance and source inspection programs with suppliers. 

  • Develop criteria and inspection plans for CCC products and manage the impact. 

  • Respond to change productively and handle other duties as required. 

  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures. 

 


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE 



  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required 

  • 5+ years’ experience in manufacturing or quality processes 

  • Ability to read technical product drawings and computer aided design (CAD) 

  • Experience with General Dimensioning and Tolerance, preferred 

  • Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma tools, preferred 

  • Experience in Supply Chain and Quality Assurance 

  • Understanding of ISO9001:2015 Quality System requirements and special process approval 

  • Experience with continuous improvement practices, using tools like SPC, and Causal Analysis, to drive corrective and preventive action 

  • Demonstrated experience identifying and engaging relevant stakeholders for collaboration 

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, particularly remotely and with geographically dispersed team members 

  • Strong problem-solving skills, and ability to think creatively 

  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings 

Preferred Experience 



  • Circuit-board manufacturing or assembly experience

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills,speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations 

  • Writes clearly and informatively, listens and provides clarification 

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills 

  • Synthesizes complex or diverse information 

  • Strong organization skills, ability to prioritize 

  • Strong Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint skills 

  • Experience using Windows, Microsoft Office and Minitab 

  • Ability to read, speak, and write in English required. 

 


WORKING CONDITIONS 


The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. This position will require 40% domestic travel.
