The Position

Improve quality of product through new concepts, research and development, and process changes. Manages and coordinates product development projects. Evaluates and resolves technical feasibility, design optimization, and production issues. Ensures that labeling and marketing/promotional literature match product specifications. Researches and monitors existing client base and industry developments and identifies potential new product opportunities. Manages project budgets and prepares financial analysis reports for top management.

Responsibilities

• Create new designs using applicable design software


•  Oversees product performance testing to determine load, stress, wind resistance, and performance dynamics.


• Enhance product line and process capabilities and meet customer expectations in quality and service and product design. 


• Ensure timely and accurate processing of special engineered orders


• Analyze specifications and requirements to determine designs which can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing facilities or methods. 


• Research and analyze data such as customer design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.


• Directs and coordinates fabrications and installation activities to ensure products and systems conforms to engineering design and customer specifications.


• Designs products to interface with machines, hardware, and software.


• Responsible for the supervision of a team of project managers and design engineers. 

Qualifications

• 7+ years experience in product engineering; 3+ years project management experience

• Experience working with AutoCad, SolidWorks, and other applicable design software.

• PE certification preferred

• Understanding of manufacturing processes

• Ability to supervise a team of 4-12 employees. 

Education

• BS in Mechanical Engineering degree or other applicable degree
