The VP, Operations ensures that the Chief Business Officer's deals, projects and initiatives are carefully planned, executed and optimized. This will include some of Dow Jones's biggest strategic partnerships. The VP, Operations manages will work closely with the Partnerships team during the three general phases of each major initiative: (a) planning/pre-signing, (b) post-signing/execution (c) ongoing implementation. This position will oversee the business operations managers responsible for crafting project plans and schedules, implementing processes and structure to ensure our goals are met on time, tracking performance and dealing with the inevitable daily problems that arise on even the smoothest of productions. As part of the Chief Business Officer's team, you will work closely with the business development team to execute their vision and Dow Jones's overall strategy.
Create project roadmaps with accurate status and next steps based on input from cross-functional teams (product, memberships, sales, editorial, etc.) Diplomacy and ingenuity are needed to motivate stakeholders and cut down on bureaucracy.
Establish and communicate the strategic direction of the partnerships teams' operations, which are constantly evolving under a changing media landscape.
Identify, recommend and implement new processes to improve and streamline the company's use of resources. We are a media company after all.
Track measurable goals across partnerships to ensure accountability and success.
Help run quarterly business reviews and monthly deep dives with our biggest partners
Be the eyes and ears of the chief business officer and business development team. Take detailed notes, help create presentations and make sure nothing is forgotten.
5+ years working for/with (a) a subscription-driven business and (b) with large tech platforms
Strong financial skills, managing P&L, and working within OKRs (or similar) framework.
Proficiency in subscription marketing and web/app analytics.
Prior experience in project management or leading of large cross departmental initiatives.
Experience articulating and navigating complex user flows and requirements.
Highly collaborative and enjoys working as part of a team, with experience bridging folks across news, design, technology, product, etc.
