About the Position

Washington, DC; Tysons, Richmond, Williamsburg, or Virginia Beach, VA; or Charlotte or Raleigh, NC

At VHB, we're elevating A/E/C marketing. We're looking for a senior marketer who thrives on finding new, creative ways to sell your story-you know how to develop compliant proposals in response to complex RFPs, and you love weaving a strong theme throughout your proposals to make them cohesive. You're a strategic thinker ready to partner with engineers, scientists, planners, and designers from pre-positioning through project delivery, going beyond "can we do the work?" to "this is how we will win the work!"

Responsibilities

Proposals

In this role, you will tackle our region's most complex and strategic pursuits. You will:


  • Take the lead marketing role in the development of pursuits, with marketing leadership/management oversight as needed. Serve as an active strategist and collaborative partner with technical staff and the Pursuit Champion. Create and manage the proposal development assignments and schedule.

  • Organize and facilitate pursuit strategy meetings prior to RFP release (SWOT analysis, competitor analysis, visibility planning, theme development, etc.). Participate in and/or facilitates pursuit SWOT analyses. Identify differentiators and how clients perceive the firm and its competitors.

  • Develop and communicate win themes and approaches to win. Independently weave win themes into all proposal sections using writing and editing skills. Independently write sections that are compliant and require minor editing. Partner with graphic designer to develop visuals that align to messages.

  • Organize and coach technical staff on pursuit presentations. May facilitate story boarding sessions, as requested.

  • Serve as a mentor to less experienced marketing staff. May provide peer QA/QC of proposals.

Visibility/Client Maintenance & Development

If you're the right fit for this role, you know that a pursuit involves much more than just the proposal! You'll be working across the Client Maintenance/Development - Visibility - Pursuit cycle. You will:


  • Understand the opportunity pipeline process and may help to manage active updating and pre-positioning activities around opportunities. Develop qualifications packages and other marketing collateral.

  • Actively participate in Client Focus Team (CFT) and/or Market meetings. May serve as assigned marketing partner on CFT and/or Market Teams. Participate in Client Mapping and Client SWOT analysis. Under the guidance of marketing management, may facilitate and lead Client Mapping sessions.

  • Coordinate and support the development of pre- and post-award visibility opportunities for assigned pursuits in collaboration with Regional Communications Specialist.

  • Assist with the creation and communication of overall client and market visibility opportunities that help promote the organization's thought leadership.

  • Comfortable working with staff in person and remotely

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or other relevant field

  • 5+ years of professional experience in a marketing and/or communications role in the A/E/C industry. Involvement in the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) or similar professional organization(s) a plus

  • Certified Professional Services Marketer (CPSM) certification or similar certification(s) a plus

  • Skilled in using Microsoft Word, Teams, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel, as well as Adobe InDesign and Acrobat. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics a plus
