Job Description:

A Troubleshoot Technician at Ultra will primarily support production and engineering by troubleshooting and repairing electronic circuit boards used in production. Additional activities could include modifying electronic and electro-mechanical systems, testing developmental and production related products, building customized test and interface units and devices, and assisting in design, documentation, development/build, and test of electrical and electro-mechanical assemblies, and equipment.

The Troubleshoot Technician will be involved in daily production and engineering assistance in testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and supporting engineers in production test station development and updates.


  • Primarily will serve as Troubleshoot Technician for the Flightline Receivers Product Line but will also work on other production and engineering projects as directed.

  • Collaborate with electrical engineers or other personnel to identify, define, or solve production and development product electrical and/or operational problems or issues.

  • Will be responsible for documenting, repairing, and assembly of electrical and electronic systems according to engineering data and knowledge of electrical principles, using hand tools, electrical/mechanical items, and measuring instruments.

Required Skills:


  • 4-year degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering Technology with 1+ years of practical electrical technician work experience;OR 2 year degree with 4+years of practical electrical technician work experience; OR non degreed with 7 years minimumpractical electrical technician work experience.

  • 1+ years experience in troubleshooting electronics and electro-mechanical systems down to the component level.

  • 1+ years of experience in soldering techniques involving through-hole and fine pitch SMT components.

  • Ability to obtain a secret security clearance. Security clearances are granted to U.S. citizens.

Desired Skills:


  • Experience using digital test meters, oscilloscopes, RF Instrumentation, analog/digital test equipment, product firmware/software installation, cable construction, and a working knowledge of personal computer systems.

  • Strong writing skills for generating test box wiring and construction diagrams, compiling lab notes and manuals, and other required activity support documents.

  • Strong experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Outstanding communication and inter-personal skills with the ability to work in a goal oriented team environment.

  • Willing to follow written and verbal work instructions.

  • Willing to draw or modify diagrams and assist in writing product or design specifications to clarify design details and functional criteria of various electronics units.

Physical Requirements:


  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

  • Normal finger dexterity, and normal color vision.

  • Candidate must be capable of occasional lifting of 35 pounds.
