Job Description:

Position Summary:

We are looking for a Credentialed Trainer & Coordinator for our Epic Training Team. This employee is responsible for conducting training for clinical and non-clinical end users in the Epic EHR. They will lead training sessions in the classroom (presently virtually) as well as in direct clinical practice. Will assign applications and is responsible for achieving in-depth understanding of the software, workflows and procedures for each application. The bulk of users requiring training in Epic will use Cadence, Clinical Professional Billing, Health Information Management, Cogito, Grand Central, and Single Billing Office. A strong knowledge of Cadence is preferred.

In addition to training responsibilities, this employee will help manage requests for training, help with access issues, training questions, and our Sail Point system which tracks training progress for users. You may also be called on to help facilitate classes in applications outside of Epic such as Service Now. Administration will also include monitoring incoming issues through a group email for the training team. Applicants should have two or three years of training experience, and we prefer formal training in Cadence or other common Epic clinical modules.

This is a fulltime position that is classified as salaried and exempt. You will be eligible for all UTHealth benefits including healthcare coverage and participation in a pension plan run by the State of Texas. You will work out of an office in the heart of the Texas Medical Center housed in our University Professional Building. Hybrids of being onsite and remote are currently being practiced, but preference will be given to applicants close enough to come in person when needed. Currently this role is remote in nature, but could change with new implementations or business needs.

Position Key Accountabilities:

1. Obtains and maintains expertise in the support and optimization of assigned Epic module(s).
2. Maintains current understanding of system changes and enhancements to ensure a thorough knowledge of the clinical information systems as related to end user usage.
3. Assesses the effectiveness of the curriculum to identify and contribute to quality improvements and provides feedback to Principal Trainer(s) to ensure proper build and maintenance of the technical training environments.
4. Responds appropriately to desired and undesired behaviors in class; keeping department managers informed as deemed appropriate.
5. Coordinates plans with colleagues and peer trainers to avoid duplication and to maximize value of resources.
6. Analyzes data from feedback and participant evaluations for quality improvement monitoring and reporting as evidenced by:
a. Analyzing core curricula to ensure effectiveness and currency to best meet needs of specialized application area(s).
b. Evaluating program content and instruction, including effectiveness and appropriateness of both the educational process and its outcome.
c. Developing and administering tools to measure participant learning based on behavioral objectives of programs; evaluating areas of learning.
d. Requesting and utilizing feedback from leadership and educational personnel to evaluate transfer of learning and participant reaction to programs.
7. Consults, presents to, and collaborates with project management, application specialists, department leadership, super users, and representatives, to ensure information is current, standardized, and in alignment with end users' needs and organizational initiatives.
8. Works with analysts and credentialed trainers to create a testing process during upgrades.
9. Maintains accurate and timely training registration and completion data in the Learning Management System
10. Ensures the readiness of training rooms, computer workstations, devices and materials in preparation for classes; collaborates with administrative support staff to ensure accurate attendance and reporting from classes.
11. Escalates situations to area leadership with details that contribute to the efficient operation of the EHR.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

• Superior communication skills, both oral and written, including specific skills such as presentation skills, and the ability to communicate complex subjects to non-technical groups.
• Superior customer relation skills including leading/participating in group sessions and reaching consensus. Presentation and facilitation experience a must, with large and small groups.
• Ability to teach/present one on one, in a group session, or in front of a large audience (including providers). Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
• Ability to work variable hours, including nights, evenings, weekends, and extended shifts as may be periodically required for special projects.
• Successful completion of the Epic credentialing process which includes a 120-hour training program on the application(s), to include "teach back" methodology, successful completion of a teaching presentation before a panel, and successful completion of a credentialing exam within the first 90 days of hire.
• Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, business or a related discipline; equivalent years of related experience in health care or information technology will be considered in lieu of education requirement.

Minimum Experience:

Two (2) years of experience in a health care related field required. Large scale health care systems planning and implementation experience on application software products preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
