Packaging Engineer, Junior at JOHN B SANFILIPPO & SON, INC in Elgin, Illinois

Job Description:

• Be a primary contact for packaging on new product launches; manage technical specifications; be a cross-functional lead for tactical project executions


• Lead plant trials focusing on packaging supply chains; technically address packaging quality complaints; lead packaging studies including data collection and analysis


• Use functional/technical expertise to bring forward opportunities to improve quality, reduce cost and provide added value to customers.


• Works with cross-functional teams to launch new items, both branded and Private Label. Manages packaging timelines, specifications, documentation, from ideation phase through start-up.


• Manages packaging material development and improvement projects. Works directly with Engineers, machine operators and maintenance. Creates packaging related SOPs, centerlines, and work instructions. Identifies, proposes and executes projects to improve performance and reliability.


• Reviews and facilitates product and packaging process changes, specifications and packaging related content. Develops and executes test methods, validations and protocols for packaging related developments.


• Optimizes materials. Consults with vendors in the development of packaging for components and materials. Supports the vendor quality process.


• Fosters a high level of creativity and independence in the design and development of new or improved packaging processes and projects. Remains current on packaging innovations throughout the industry. Able to support all packaging platforms/systems in the company’s plants.
