Johns Manville is recruiting for an Engineering Intern at its Phenix City Alabama facility.

Our Phenix City plant, about thirty years of age and acquired through acquisition, is a hybrid of high-tech processes and controls working in concert with often outdated equipment. As we continue to execute our five-year plan with a focus on safety, asset care and reliability, and of course profitability, we have many systems which need better documented and understood: Value Stream, CAD Layout and Critical Control Parameters are examples of initial leg work which then needs to be followed up with performance studies, optimization proposals or alternate approaches to then be incorporated into our growth strategy. This is an opportunity to use the tools the applicant has already acquired while also challenging them to better understand the many roles an engineer may undertake in modern manufacturing, working with all levels of plant leadership, occasional corporate leaders as well as potential vendors. Valuable real-world insight along with a better understanding of the career path choices are examples of what a successful summer cohort will possess at the end of this assignment. This undertaking may result in future internship opportunities within JM as well as potential full-time offers after successfully completing their degree program.
