We are seeking a Nutrition Coordinator (part-time) to join our Ohio team.
Job Summary:
The Nutrition Coordinator is responsible for complying with Head Start Performance Standards to
promote each child’s wellness by providing nutritional services that supplement and complement those
of the home and community. Coordinator shall provide nutrition consultation services, 20 hours per week with flexibility during the first 90 days and / or needs of the program. Hours not to exceed 1040 per year.
**This is a part-time position**
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
● Develops, reviews, modifies, and evaluates menus to ensure the meal program meets the
nutritional needs and individual nutritional needs of each child are met. Menus will be reflective
of cultural preferences and broaden each child’s food experience.
● Reviews each child’s nutritional needs assessment (documentation and complete observation)
within 90 days of child’s entry date; recommend and refer for appropriate course of action.
● Reviews nutritional / health information minimum of one time during the program year for
“Returning Children”. Address individual needs as identified.
● Provides support, resources and if applicable, a plan of action upon receiving a Health / Nutritional
Internal Referral for nutritional related issues/concerns.
● Coordinates with Leadership Team in the implementation of nutritional component into the
program.
● Participates in the Health Services Advisory Committee.
● Supports education staff in implementing nutritional activities that are incorporated into the
classroom.
● Presents nutritional educational activity/training to families as needed aligning with our health
practices.
● Provides individual and/or group nutritional counseling to families as requested or based on
assessments.
● Provides input to purchasing practices and make recommendations for maximizing the use of
funds available for program food service. In addition, attend and have active role in food services
meetings.
● Participates in assigned meetings, events and training as required.
