POSITION SUMMARY 


The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing payroll for the Holt Family of Companies. This includes semi-monthly and biweekly payrolls for Union and Non-Union employees. This position involves assisting employees with payroll related issues, processing certified payrolls and updating data to employee records or HRIS system.   


 


QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 



  • Full processing of payroll for all entities.

  • Set up new hires in HRIS and timecard system.

  • Data entry of wage, cost center, and other reporting requirement changes.

  • Process certified payrolls.

  • Prepare and process off cycle checks.

  • Calculate and process sales commissions.

  • Maintain and update employee deductions.

  • Update personnel files including scanning.

  • Assist employees with payroll questions.

  • Validate and process W2’s.

  • Assist Human Resources Manager and Assistant Manager.

  • Other Duties as assigned. 

EDUCATION


High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with excellent administrative skills and/or two to four years related experience and/or training.     Certified Payroll Professional certification or Payroll processing experience and knowledge of payroll compliance reporting required.


SKILLS



  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel plus data entry experience.

  • Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.

  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS 


Must have a valid driver license and clean DMV report.
