Position Summary: To perform work in the operations and/or monitoring of the heating system, water system, filtration system, and general preventative maintenance.



Position Qualifications:



  • Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Trade/Technical School is preferred.

  • Minimum Experience:On the job training.

  • License, Certification, Registration: Valid State of Alaska Drivers license. 3rd Class Boiler Certificate required within first year of employment.

  • Equipment/Tools: Understanding and/or using computer applications. Must be familiar with equipment in facility and able to make manual adjustments or minor repairs.

  • Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Supervisory Responsibilities: None


Physical Job Requirements:



  • Work involves physical exertion in the transporting of various materials or equipment, lifting and moving.

  • Job requires employee to walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and regularly lift and/or move 50 lbs and occasionally lift and/or move heavy objects utilizing proper tools and leverage methods in excess of 75 lbs.

  • Ability to use ladders, scaffolding and/or scissor lift while performing job duties.

  • Ability to work with power tools, small motorized equipment, and vehicles.

  • Duties involve occasional exposure to noise, dirt, odors or similarly unpleasant surroundings.

  • Work may be performed in confined or restricted position or with exposure to temperature/weather extremes.
