Job Description:

Job Summary




Responsible for planning, developing, and directing quality assurance and product quality policies, programs, and initiatives. Directs process and product testing to ensure materials, parts, and products comply with established quality standards and government regulations. Develops and implements quality standards, tools, training, and methods. Monitors and evaluates the performance of the production process and quality of resulting products to improve existing modes of operation. Possesses extensive knowledge of industry standards and governmental regulations for product quality.


Duties and Responsibilities


* Develop quality strategy for global organization. Establish 5 year plan of continuous improvement.

* Measure and improve total cost of quality spend.

* Create disciplined quality NPD process.

* Drive change in new product development with quality input to prevent design quality issues and minimize defects throughout the development process.

* Lead supplier quality efforts and corrective actions to reduce cost and improve quality.

* Establish standards for supplier PPAP. Ensure KPIs are in place to monitor and track progress.

* Develop vendor scorecards and management system for supply base.

* Develop enterprise wide QMS. Set up systems and processes to measure adherence to the QMS highlighting areas of risk and providing support to area owners to improve and reduce risk.

* Establish and manage quality and reliability standards by studying product and consumer requirements with members of management and with production operators, technicians, and engineers.

* Establish and manage raw material standards by studying manufacturing and engineering requirements; confer and negotiate with suppliers; devise testing methods and procedures.

* Establish and manage in-process product inspection standards through understanding manufacturing methods, devising testing methods and procedures.

* Establish and manage standards for disposition of finished products through devising evaluation tests, methods, and procedures.

* Establish and manage rework standards by devising inspection and physical testing methods and procedures.

* Establish, maintain, and manage the product quality documentation system through writing and updating quality assurance procedures.

* Maintain a high degree of product quality through enforcing quality assurance policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements; collaborate with other members of management to develop new product and engineering designs, manufacturing, and training methods.

* Prepare product and process quality reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.

* Establish and meet quality assurance operational requirements and metrics; continuously refine metrics and quality assurance standards.

* Maintain a high degree of professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and participating in professional societies.

* Achieve financial objectives by preparing the quality assurance budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; and initiating corrective actions.

* May prepare and provide scorecard reports to senior management.

* Champion and drive continuous improvement activities throughout the organization to include corrective actions.

* Oversee the activities of the assigned team. Provide leadership, coaching, direction and growth opportunities to members of the department, performing those responsibilities in accordance with the established policies and applicable laws.

* Responsible for interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning, or directing work, appraising performance, succession planning, disciplining team members and resolving problems. Work with Human Resources to resolve more complex team member-related issues.

* Other duties as deemed necessary.


Qualification Requirements


Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering, or related field of study



Minimum Work Experience:


  • Ten (10) years of progressive experience managing quality and operational process improvement. Relevant experience within the consumer products industry or manufacturing environment is required.

  • 5+ years managing quality professionals both domestic and internationally

License(s) / Certification(s): Certified Quality Manager (CQM) through the American Society of Quality (ASQ) is preferred.
