Purpose/Scope:

The Maintenance Mechanic assists with repairs and maintenance of machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists with trouble shooting and repair of all mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Assists with preventative maintenance on all trucks, trailers, and yard equipment
  • Maintain and repair all company equipment to the best possible condition to avoid downtime
  • Repair and/or replace all defective parts
  • Provides assistance with scheduled preventative maintenance
  • Lubricate and clean parts
  • Start up and operate devices and machines to test performance
  • Maintain clean and organized maintenance areas
  • Operate overhead crane, aerial lifts and hi-lo when needed
  • Know, understand, and follow all lockout procedures


Basic Qualifications:

  • A degree or certification in Diesel Mechanics/Heavy Equipment Repair or at least 2 or more years of experience in a manufacturing/construction environment
  • Welding Certification(s)
  • Crane, Aerial Lift, and Hi-Lo Operation Permits


Other Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Should have knowledge of Inventory software; Manufacturing software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Millwright and CDL-A


Physical Requirements:

  • Plant/Yard : Move minimum of 50lbs., spatial awareness/depth perception, walk, climb, bend at the waist, reach, forceful use of hand tools, vocal projection


Work Environment:

  • Plant/Yard: All types of weather conditions (year-round, Mid-west and Northeast), dirt/dust, noise from heavy machinery/vehicles, vibrations from machinery and vehicles, loud noises, little to no climate control, varying amounts of light, stairs, narrow walkways
