Job Description:

NYC Ferry is seeking an Outreach and Canvassing Assistant (Seasonal) for our operation in New York City.

About You:

This person will be adaptable, dynamic, and embody City Experiences’ RESPECT Service System.

About the Opportunity:

This person will support the Community Engagement team with in-person canvassing activities, tabling at events, and representing NYC Ferry during public engagement.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supports the Vice President of Public Affairs and the Community Relations Associate with the in-person implementation of a high-touch community relations and public outreach strategy at NYC Ferry.

  • As directed, conduct in-person canvassing of local neighborhoods, including door-to-door small business outreach, general canvassing of areas near current or future landings, and flyering at high-traffic pedestrian plazas.

  • As directed, attend in-person events with external partners and represent NYC Ferry during interactions with attendees and hosts.

  • As needed, assist in the setup and breakdown of any NYC Ferry materials at events.

  • Track and report all outreach activities, including the number of engagements, to the Community Relations Associate.

  • As directed, assist on community relations projects with external partners and internal teams.

  • Additional job duties as assigned

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Passionate about public/community engagement

  • Knowledgeable about New York City public transportation

  • Ability to distill complex information into easily understood answers

  • Independence, reliability, and strong communication skills

  • Experience with Word, Excel, Office 365

  • Must thrive in a fast-paced environment.
