We are currently seeking a Tool & Die Maker located out of our Delavan location, supporting both locations with the start-to-finish construction of precision one-of-a-kind plastic molds and components, new tooling as well as modifications/repair of existing tooling, machining replacement parts for equipment, designing fixtures or end of arm tooling. This role will have the overall responsibility for machines, fitting, assembling, and finishing of molds for plastic products, analyzing specifications, and applying knowledge of mold design and construction. This position is under the direction of the VP of Engineering.

In this role you will: 


  • Develop and design new tools or dies based on customer needs.

  • Maintain computerized records of all tool designs and update them when needed.

  • Measure materials, cutting them to size, and marking them as needed to create molds or dies.

  • Repair or replace worn tools and dies to ensure that they are functioning properly.

  • Perform regular maintenance on tools and equipment such as saws, grinders, and drill presses.

  • Operate computerized numerical control (CNC) equipment to manufacture precision parts for machinery and other products.

  • Design and fabricate tools and dies using computer-aided design (CAD) software.

  • Machine replacement parts for our equipment.

  • Participate on the equipment build team.

  • Use hand tools such as hammers, wrenches, chisels, pliers, and saws to shape metal.

  • Repair or replace worn dies or damaged equipment to ensure that they are functioning properly.

  • Perform mold maintenance to include disassembly, cleaning, insert changing, and basic repair.

  • Maintain the preventive maintenance records for tooling per established procedures.

  • Assure tool readiness according to the production schedule.

  • Recommend changes required to part design, tool design or equipment capability to achieve acceptable quality and cost requirements.

  • Participate and offer input to corrective and preventive action and continuous improvement projects.

  • Maintain proper housekeeping practices and mold storage requirements.

  • Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES):


  • Technical certifications, trade school, and 5 or more years' relevant experience gained through on the job instruction, apprenticeship programs, and increasingly more complex assignments

  • Experience in mold construction and repair

  • Ability to read tool and die designs for engineering changes

  • Basic shop math

  • Mechanically inclined

  • Ability to operate and set up standard tool room equipment and machinery

  • Capable of working alone or in a group setting

  • Welding experience a plus

  • Personal hand tools or willing to purchase

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


  • Manually lift and move product and materials up to 50 lbs through regular physical exertion, including but not limited to reach forward, reach overhead, lift, carry, crouch, and bend

  • Power grip and wrist turn, including the use of hand tools and/or steering fork truck

  • Walk, sit, or stand for up to 12 hours with intermittent breaks

  • Push/pull up to 100 lbs

  • See, inspect, handle and evaluate product quality

  • Read and understand written English language work instructions

  • Work in non-climate controlled environments, including hot and humid conditions

  • Climb ladders and stairs of varying heights
