What you will be doing: 


  • Lead complex internal audit engagements with minimum supervision, keeping Internal Audit management informed of the progress of the audit.

  • Review and appraise the soundness, adequacy, and effectiveness of accounting, financial, and other controls throughout the Credit Union and ascertain compliance with Credit Union policies and Regulatory requirements.

  • Determine the extent of compliance with written procedures and evaluate unwritten procedures against sound business practices.

  • Ascertain that assets are properly accounted for and safeguarded from loss.

  • Evaluate the accuracy, timeliness, and effectiveness of all reporting systems and procedures.

  • Recommend improvements in controls, practices, and procedures in order to increase profitability and reduce exposure to loss.

What we need from you:


  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.

  • A minimum of three years experience in auditing, preferably with a financial institution.

  • Computer literate, proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Strong analytical, written/verbal communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

  • An ability to adapt to change quickly and multi-task.

  • Preferred experience in bank/credit union auditing, including but not limited to cash audits, compliance audits, operational audits, and lending audits.

  • Either certified or seeking certification in Certified Public Accounting or Certified Internal Auditing, or similar certification.

  • Must have good oral and written communications skills.
