Heluna Health and RTI International seek a Senior Outreach Worker to participate in a neighborhood mapping project to assess the neighborhood around the Tenderloin Center and a comparison neighborhood. The Senior Outreach Worker, accompanied by other members of the research team, will walk the designated neighborhood, and record information they see on the streets.  In addition, they will assist with recruitment of participants in an ethnographic study of people who use drugs, linkage center staff and community stakeholders. Work will be conducted in San Francisco neighborhoods that are impacted by high levels of drug use.
 


 This is a part-time position, up to 14 hours/week.  We are seeking a flexible candidate who has many years of experience with outreach to urban poor communities.   The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $31.50 per hour.


Employment is provided by Heluna Health.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


·         Conduct community mapping


·         Conduct street-based participant engagement


·         Work collaboratively with Ethnographer


·         Participant observation at the Tenderloin Center


·         Other duties as assigned


JOB QUALIFICATIONS


We are seeking a person who has experience working in communities impacted by high levels of substance use, who is detail oriented, can engage with people from diverse communities, is aware of their environment and is able to de-escalate potentially volatile situations.  


Education/Experience


·         High School diploma or GED


·         Minimum of 10 years experience working directly with people who use drugs


·         Minimum of 5 years’ experience conducting community-based outreach to marginalized populations such as people who use drugs, urban poor, and homeless people


·         Minimum of 2 years’ experience working on community-based research projects

·         Familiarity with street/substance using social settings
