Assistant Librarian (Part-Time) at American Career College in Los Angeles, California

Job Description:

Reporting directly to the Librarian, the Assistant Librarian performs a variety of library related reference, information literacy, circulation and technical services for the daily operations of the Library for West Coast University. The Assistant librarian is responsible for working collaboratively with the Campus Librarian in the development of strategies, partnerships and initiatives to enhance student knowledge of library resources and services so students strengthen their information literacy skills.  Additionally, the Assistant Librarian will conduct outreach to the campus community and build partnerships, becoming part of the active campus network of services promoting student success.  Under general guidance, may oversee daily functions of a site or special service area, including supervision of student workers.  Effectively interprets and implements procedures, enforces policies, and delivers quality customer service to users in person or virtually.  Performs professional level reference, collection development, and resource description activities; develops information subject guides and collaborates with faculty to facilitate student learning; actively participates in information resource workshops, database tutorials, library tours, and other activities and assignments congruent with the department and West Coast University’s mission and values. 

EDUCATION:

Master’s degree in Library Science, Library Information Science, Information Science or related degree from an institution accredited by the American Library Association required.        

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

Valid driver’s license
