Work with crews loading/unloading, switching, & spotting railcars
Operate a variety of heavy equipment such as but not limited to locomotive, overhead gantry crane, front end loader, man-lift, excavator, forklift, and hand tools
Diagnose problems and maintain a variety of bulk handling equipment
Assist in the transportation and movement of petroleum coke
Service and lubricates machines and equipment, operates repaired equipment to verify conformance to specifications
General cleanup of petcoke thru the use of front end loader/skid steer, shovels, and water hose, cleans and perform basic housekeeping duties
Notify crew leader or supervisor of breakdowns or malfunctions
Maintain radio communication with crews to insure proper operation
Understand inspection procedures and inspection reports on equipment
Performs equipment preventive maintenance, i.e.: lubricating, cleaning, adding gear lubricants, and documents all activity performed
Greases, oils, and performs minor repairs on crane, front-end loader, equipment, and crusher daily
Other duties as required.
Position Requirements
High school/GED and/or 1 - 3 years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
In order to appropriately perform the essential duties of this job, regular work attendance is required
Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's driver license and have the willingness to use personal and/or company vehicle in the course of employment
Must obtain Safety training/certification as required by customers to work in their facilities and as required by Kinder Morgan at all locations
Must be willing to work shift and/or overtime hours during the week and/or weekends as dictated by operations
Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisors, keep required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules
Preferred Experience, Skills and Knowledge
Heavy equipment operator certification for equipment (locomotive, skid steer, excavator) being operated and when required
Background in handling railcars, spotting and performing switching operations
Must be willing and able to work as a part of team

Prioritize and plans work activities using time efficiently, plans for additional resources, organizers schedules of other people and their tasks, develops realistic action plans
Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and also but not limited to: heights in excess of 5 feet, moving mechanical parts, moving on track rail equipment, fumes, airborne particles, vibration, and uneven terrain. Usual high noise level in work environment
Required to stand, walk, and climb, for extended periods of time
Communication with Supervision and coworkers via radio or hand signals
Must wear fire retardant clothing
