Job Summary

Responsible for the planning, layout, setup, operating, and adjustments for a variety of sheet metal hydraulic and press brake machines. Work from blueprints, process sheets, and sketches to perform production tasks, which may include the cutting and shaping of metal to precision dimensions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Measure, mark dimensions, and layout material to be installed using tools such as scribes, rulers, calculators, and squares

• Use hand and power tools to trim, buff, smooth, file and grind metal surfaces and joints of parts that have been assembled to ensure safety and a seamless appearance

• Select gauges and types of sheet metal or non-metallic material, according to product specifications.

• Layout patterns that use materials most efficiently, some using computerized metalworking equipment

• Layout, measure, and mark dimensions and reference lines on material, such as panels, according to drawings or templates, using calculators, scribes, dividers, squares, and rulers.

Skills, Knowledge, and Ability Requirements

To be considered for a position, the following conditions must be met:

• Mechanically inclined.

• Prioritize, schedule, and review work.

• Effectively and safely operate a variety of assigned tools and equipment.

• Interpret blueprints, shop drawings, sketches, and work orders

• Understand and follow oral and written directions; communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

• Work independently with little direction.

• Meet schedules and timelines.

• Maintain routine records.

• Knowledge of brake and shearing machines and tools

• Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and other techniques and working with various sheet metals

• Previous experience with:

o Cincinnati Hydraulic Press Brake Machine

o Amada Punching Machine

o Trumpf Press Brake Machine

o Accupress Brake Machine
