The University of Miami in Miami, FL is seeking a Genetic Counselor 2. Expected to perform case preparation and follow-up independently, which may include obtaining medical records, performing literature review, making referrals, and other tasks. Collects and evaluates patient medical and family history; performs genetic risk assessments independently, demonstrating expertise with risk assessment tools; provides clear risk information to patients and providers. Anticipates possible testing, coordinates outside testing with ease, interprets genetic test results, and communicates results to families and healthcare professionals. Provides psychosocial assessment and counseling, formulates and implements a case management plan, and identifies resources. Documents all patient encounters. Understands clinical area of expertise in order to work independently and be able to identify when appropriate to consult with another healthcare provider. Initiates and provides independent consultation to patients, families and other healthcare providers. Provides clinic development, coordination or management to contribute to success within area of expertise. Travel to different sites in Miami-Dade and Broward county will be required on an as needed basis.

Position requires Master's in Genetic Counseling or a closely related field and at least 2 years of genetic counseling experience. Must be certified or eligible for certification by either the American Board of Genetic Counseling or the Canadian Association of Genetic Counsellors.
