Corporate Controller at The Doe Run Company in St. Louis, Missouri

Job Description:

The Doe Run Company is looking for a Corporate Controller for our St. Louis Office. The Corporate Controller leads the corporate accounting functions to include financial reporting tax research and compliance, accounts payable and payroll functions and assist the VP of Finance and CFO by providing guidance to the division controllers and overseeing the corporate wide accounting and controller functions of the business.

Responsibilities: 


  • Oversee Accounting operation including maintenance of accounting principles, practices and procedures in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures

  • Preparation and issuance of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.

  • Oversee the annual audit and any audit-related activities

  • Oversee the NWAPA program

  • Implement and oversee compliance with the accounting and financial reporting policies of the company.

  • Manage the corporate and consolidating period close processes and coordinate with the division controllers.

  • Supervise and coach the general accounting staff and division controllers, accounts payable staff, payroll staff and tax staff.

  • Provide oversight of internal controls and maintain a strong internal control environment.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience: 


  • 10+ years’ experience in accounting to include experience leading accounting functions and teams

  • General ledger account reconciliation experience

  • Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements

  • Experience analyzing and implementing internal control procedures compliant with SOX

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

  • MBA or Masters in Accounting preferred

  • CPA preferred

Skills: 


  •  Advanced computer skills, including ERP systems (e.g. PeopleSoft)


  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (esp. Excel)




  • Advanced knowledge of Accounting principles




  • Ability to lead and mentor others



Work Environment, Physical Requirements, Lifting requirements: 


  • Work is generally performed in a standard office setting.

  • Regularly required to sit for extended periods of time; frequently required to perform repetitive movement; occasionally required to talk and hear. Requires clarity of vision at 20 inches or less.

  • May be required to lift up to 5 pounds.
