We are building the modern data platform of tomorrow to solve complex, high scale data challenges. The data platform will be the foundation to enable self-service capabilities for data publishing, processing, and consumption in a distributed data mesh environment. This role is an engineering role that will design, implement, and continuously deploy data pipelines within a domain-oriented product team.  This role will leverage a product mindset in adopting the Data Mesh and services capabilities and work within a Dev/Ops model.

This engineer will also implement designs to ensure compliance with data governance and data security requirements while creating, improving, and operationalizing integrated and reusable data pipelines. This will enable faster data access, data reuse and vastly improved time-to-solution for data and analytics initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy and run data services on shared data platform with CI/CD automation to enable automated data pipelines at scale.


• Enable domain focused analytical use cases and data product publication within Data Mesh environment through data engineering and data ops activities.


• Publish, process, and consume data products supported by event-driven, streaming, batch patterns.


• Migrate legacy data warehouse to the cloud and re-design the data pipelines using cloud-native patterns.


• Work within product team to build and execute technical user stories, deploy automated releases, and provide operational support.


• Enable effective metadata management using innovative and modern tools, techniques, and architectures to automate the most-common, repeatable, and tedious data preparation and integration activities.


• Establish and maintain database object naming standards, schemas, tables, columns, indexes.


• Perform Level 3 support duties as required.

• Focus on developing domain knowledge across all the organization to become a true business technologist for the company.


• Perform other duties as assigned by Manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent knowledge/experience is required


• Experience with dbt and Airflow is a plus


• 3+ years of experience with relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, Teradata, etc)


• 3+ years working on BI/DW Projects


• 3+ years of hands-on experience as a data engineer, well versed in ETL/ELT tool usage, architecture, design and development.


• Solid ETL/ELT architecture design experience within data warehousing environments governed by appropriate methodologies and standards


• Must have knowledge of Software development and testing methodologies and models (Waterfall, Spiral, RAD, Agile, etc)


• Must have experience with one or more ETL/ELT tools (dbt, ODI, Informatica, WMB)


• Must have hands on experience in SQL


• Experience working with SAP data structures is a plus


• Conceptual, logical and physical data modeling through use of data modeling tools is a plus


• Experience working with BI tools (MicroStrategy, Cognos, OBIEE, etc) is desired

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

• Physical Requirements: Requires the ability to stand, walk, climb stairs and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  It also requires sitting, operating a computer keyboard, telephone and other equipment, reading, talking and hearing for extended periods of time.


• Travel Required: Must be flexible in work style and schedule: travel up to 10%.

The salary range for this role is:

$95,500.00 - $149,400.00

This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.
