Assistant Professor, Organic Chemistry at University of Houston Clearlake in Houston, Texas

Job Description:

The University of Houston-Clear Lake invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Organic Chemistry, beginning Fall 2023.

Duties:

• Develop and teach three course equivalents every long semester, including advanced and entry-level Organic Chemistry, General Chemistry, lecture and lab courses. 
• Conduct research in the field of Organic Chemistry and involve students in this research.
• Maintain chemistry instrumentation such as NMR and HPLC/MS and provide training for faculty and staff.
• Regularly submit research grants to external funding agencies.
• Work with fellow faculty to maintain and improve the Chemistry Program. Contribute to University and Departmental committees and to professional organizations. 
• Advise graduate students in their degree progression and perform related duties as assigned.

Required:

Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry.

Demonstrated evidence of solid research accomplishment.

Solid experimental skills (especially NMR and  HPLC/MS).

Ability to establish a sound research program to consistently engage undergraduate and graduate (M.S.) students.

Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

Clear, precise, and effective written and oral communication skills.

Excellent interpersonal skills.

Desired:

Teaching experience at the college level and post-doctoral experience.
