The purpose of this position is to test and inspect products at various stages of production process. Compile and evaluate statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products. This position uses gauges and other devices to verify conformity to standards of products. Suggests and recommends changes regarding special requirements. Assists in implementing the quality management program and assists in training others on quality management. Investigates abnormalities with products and processes internally as well as investigates replacements with customers externally. This role is not strictly limited to the below responsibilities and could be utilized in other areas of the plant to cover production requirements, or other assignments deemed necessary by management.

Here’s What You’ll Get To Do

• Investigates external and internal non-conforming products via employee requests or external customer complaints


• Issues credit and replacement authorizations for defective product utilizing established protocol


• Performs receiving inspection on all incoming materials from vendors such as extruded aluminum and hardware using calipers, gauges, and die drawings and completes necessary receiving paperwork as well as entering into AS400 system


• Identifies and isolates non-conforming products


• Completes routine reports on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Reports include best practice reports, finished good audits, calibration checks, internal scrap, etc.


• Maintains and disseminates quality information via daily, weekly or monthly reports


• Trains new hires on established quality protocols for various departments


• 
  
• Maintains the calibration of quality tools or devices and keeps records current

What We’re Looking For

• Read and perform mathematical calculations and measurements with numbers, fractions, and decimals normally acquired through high school education or equivalency


• Minimum of two years, production and inspection experience with glass or related product


• Organized, self-starter with the ability to handle numerous projects, phones, prioritize workload & work with minimal supervision


• Must be able to communicate effectively & conduct themselves professionally; excellent written & verbal communication skills


• Intermediate skills in MS Office including Excel, Word & Access


• Prior experience using windows based software 

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to stand, lift, bend, twist, walk, push, pull, and reach 


• Must be able to occasionally perform heavy work, lifting and moving material that can weigh up to 75 pounds 


• Must be able to work in an environment that is not climate controlled (protection from the weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes)


• Must have close visual acuity to perform assigned tasks, such as reading work orders and shipping labels, and inspecting, and packaging materials
