*Oklahoma Registry Stipend and Wage Counselor at University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma

Job Description:

The Oklahoma Registry Certificate of Achievement Stipend and Wage Supplement Program Counselors are responsible for implementing these programs for Oklahoma childcare providers working in licensed childcare facilities. The Counselors will review applications to determine program eligibility, process approvals and denials, and counsel participants on meeting program requirements. Occasional travel will be required. The Oklahoma Registry Certificate of Achievement Stipend and Wage Supplement Program Counselors report to the Project Lead.



  • Review applications to determine program eligibility.

  • Process applications, status changes, and payments.

  • Update participant information in database.

  • Keep accurate records of all contacts and enter a summary of discussions with participants in the database notes.

  • Provide counseling to participants on how to meet program requirements.

  • Correspond with Finance regarding participants as needed.

  • Scan participant documentation into online storage system.

  • Engage in recruitment activities and promote these programs through presentations, site visits, conferences, phone contact, and other means.

  • Meet application and payment processing and performance reporting deadlines according to established guidelines and procedures.

  • Answer questions from and provide information to Oklahoma Department of Human Services Childcare Services and Licensing staff and CECPD partners and staff

  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.


·        Participate in scheduled team and center-wide meetings and required OU Outreach events.


·        Perform other related duties as assigned.


This position is located in Moore, Oklahoma.

Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree AND:



  • 36 months of related experience


Equivalent/Substitution: Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree for a total of 84 months of related experience.


Skills:



  • Ability to speak, read and write clear, concise English.

  • Ability to accurately read and understand written materials and instructions.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and general knowledge of computers.

  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information.

  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines.

  • None


Advertised Physical Requirements:



  • Ability to engage in repetitive motions, grasp objects with fingers or hands, and grasp objects with fingers or hands. Ability to speak, including expressing oneself or exchanging information with others. Ability to see, including color, depth perception and clarity. Ability to lift 30 pounds. Ability to sit for long periods of time. Ability to work effectively with frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines, busy periods and a high volume of public contact.


Departmental Preferences:



  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, child development, and/or family relations.

  • Experience in Professional Development Systems and/or Stipend Programs.

  • Knowledge of Oklahoma Child Care Licensing Requirements.

  • Knowledge of the Oklahoma Professional Development Registry.

  • Knowledge of Oklahoma Reaching for the Stars Program.


Supervision: No Supervisory Duties
