Evaluating and making general maintenance repairs on fire protection systems according to the National Fire Codes, Florida Fire Prevention Codes, and Publix Policy
coordinating vendor inspections, testing and maintenance of fire and life safety equipment on time table as prescribed per applicable code requirements (this includes communicating and scheduling vendor site visits with Lakeland Support facility management in order to conduct inspections)
conducting fire and life safety inspections of all Lakeland Support facilities to ensure compliance
coordinating special maintenance and remodel projects for Lakeland Support facilities.
investigate fire alarm issues and schedule vendor site visits
thread and groove schedule 40 pipe up to 6”
willingness to complete online courses through NFPA and attend the Florida State Fire College extinguisher program
educating managers on accidental water discharge and fire alarm procedures
maintaining fire pumps in accordance with NFPA 20
communicating with the local fire department about fire alarm and life safety issues that arise
High School Diploma or equivalent experience
be at least 20 years of age
have a valid driver license and maintain an excellent driving record
be available outside of normally scheduled work hours to respond to emergencies
willingness to be on call and able to be onsite within 30 minutes
willingness to work weekends, holidays, nights for extended periods of time
1-year experience in fire systems maintenance, or experience with fire sprinkler equipment, extinguishers, fire alarm systems and how they work
ability to withstand environmental conditions that may range from -20 to 120 degrees Fahrenheit
ability to work in confined spaces or heights up to 45’ for long periods of time
experience with NFPA fire codes, general maintenance best practices, and tool usage
excellent written and verbal communication skills
good analytical skills
ability to read and interpret architectural plans, blueprints, and technical materials
good human relations skills (the ability to work well with others and be a team member)
the ability to complete tasks in a timely manner with little supervision
obvious enthusiasm, initiative and pride in his or her work

• National Institute of Fire Safety Training - Certification: 1, or experience in a fire and or safety related field, and
• two years fire related experience in fire systems or maintenance.
