Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Material Handler I to join our Ashland business at our Freetown, MA location. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the warehouse function. This position will report to the Materials Manager.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Performs and documents shipping materials, receiving, production orders and filling other material movements


• Verifies incoming and outgoing materials shipments at the time of physical shipping/receiving


• Documents discrepancies between recorded and actual counts on shipping/receiving documentation (including carrier’s copy) and reports to Supervisor immediately


• Performs shipping/receiving materials movement data entries in SAP


• Performs on-hand physical inventory counts as required

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required 


• Ability to interpret SDS


• Ability to safely operate a forklift (requires a valid Driver’s License)


• Ability to lift/pull/push 50+ lbs.
   

The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:

• Previous warehouse or industrial experience


• Material Handling Courses and/or certificate


• Experience using SAP or other ERP software


• Forklift driving experience


• Knowledge of DOT rules on hazardous materials transportation
