Plans and directs the activities of Parts Purchasing Manager I, Senior Buyers, and Buyers to meet business plan goals, such as inventory reduction, Purchase Price Variance or cost reduction, NCR review and disposition, lead time updates, supplier labor recovery, and engineering change coordination. Facilitates the strategic collaboration of Production and Parts Purchasing Managers, buyers, PFEP team, supply base, Global Purchasing Office, and internal departments to ensure proper inventory levels are achieved to support 100% OTIF. Leads Materials continuous improvement initiatives and applies lean principles to enhance supply chain performance. Manages departmental budgets, improves internal processes, and drives favorable PPV cost reduction initiatives. Develops and monitors key performance indicators tied to the business plan. This position is responsible for managing commodity spend figures upwards to $200 million.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Manage the successful execution of tactical functions including NCR review and disposition, lead time updates, invoice discrepancy resolution, supplier labor recovery, and engineering change coordination.
Manage activity to plan material availability that supports the build plan and inventory strategy. Reacts to schedule adjustments and provides long range visibility to adjusting market conditions.
Mentor and coach employees to develop and enhance employee skills and performance.
Manage process of driving root cause and corrective action to minimize shortage reoccurrence. Monitor and assist supply base in meeting OTD requirements.
Lead cross functional teams to drive supply chain improvements, such as reduced lead times, supplier development, consolidation, freight optimization, plan for every part (PFEP), and communication enhancements.
Develops, maintains, and monitors key performance indicators for department.
Financial budgeting and control over departmental expenses. Includes identifying and implementing cost reduction initiatives.
JOB REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS
Bachelor's degree in Materials/Purchasing with ten to fifteen years of experience. Tactical Purchasing supervision in a complex manufacturing environment with a strong background in supply chain management.
APICs certification preferred. CPM certification recommended. Master's Degree Recommended. Detailed knowledge of ERP systems. Ability to solve complex problems involving the entire supply chain and conceptualize and implement enhancements.
Normal office environment with daily exposure to shop environment and limited travel.
Occasional travel up to 10%
