JOB SUMMARY


The Sr. Production Planner is responsible for managing all material related to Planning activities needed to meet the requirements of development or ongoing programs and processing all development manufacturing requirements. The main objective of the Sr. Production Planner is to coordinate and improve the material planning function through the implementation of planning best practices and active participation in the maintenance of the company's ERP system.

Creates manufacturing planning that completely and accurately directs the manufacturing and/or production process for the applicable product using Syspro:

Coordinates with program managers and engineers to ensure that product requirements are completely and accurately incorporated into planning.
Works closely with manufacturing and production leads to ensure that fabrication and assembly processes are completely and accurately incorporated into planning.
Works closely with the quality department to ensure quality requirements are completely and accurately incorporated into planning.

Works closely with the engineering team during the design and product development stage to come up with a preliminary engineering BOM.
Structures product BOM from released drawings or 3D models.
Prepares purchase requisitions based on program requirements, preliminary engineering BOM, and released product BOM.
Monitors purchased and manufactured parts with the purchasing and manufacturing teams respectively.
Develops strong working relationships with engineers, production, supporting facilities and buyers, and works closely with them to resolve problems and issues.
Keeps program managers up to date of any changes or deviation from the plan.
Functions as the focal point for Engineering new drawing releases and support
Correctly assesses whether parts required should be manufactured in house or subcontracted to outside vendors.
Provides continual improvement of the Planning and Reporting practices.

Takes follow up actions in relation to material shortages that affect production.
Implement all processes to agreed standards and targets and support continuous improvement initiatives and identify areas of improvement.

Pulls data from multiple sources/system and summarizes information in comprehensive report.
Must possess good oral and written communication skills.
Determines production priorities by analyzing master production schedule and customer requirements; collects 24 months delivery forecasts for multiple projects.
Develops and publish production schedule by analyzing preliminary program delivery schedule, work order specifications, current schedule based on availability of equipment, materials, and workforce.
Evaluates and resolves scheduling problems by collecting and analyzing information; coordinates solutions and obtains validation from other functional groups prior to release of updated master schedule.
Performs labor analysis to drive resource allocation and validate further actions with production.
Maintains, inputs, and ensures accuracy of labor database which includes production statistics.
Develops and maintains customer and internal Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Secures information by completing database backups.
Assists with the development of the sales, inventory, and operation planning process.
May align MRP routing steps with the manufacturing lead times within the master schedule.
May analyze prospective customer's product configurations and provide estimated bill of material cost to support the quotation process.
Performs other duties and projects as assigned or requested.

Demonstrates professional responsibilities by cooperating with other personnel to achieve department objectives and maintain good employee relations, interdepartmental objectives, and departmental goals and objectives.
Responsible for behaving in a manner consistent with company mission values, code of ethics policies, and other standards of conduct.
Perform other routine job duties as needed.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS - Education, Knowledge, and Experience


Education:

Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related field with minimum 8 years in planning operations in an aerospace manufacturing/development environment.
An equivalent combination of high school diploma and / or 12 years of relevant experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment may be considered.


Experience:

A minimum of 8 years of direct experience required.



Skills:

Knowledge of ERP systems.
Equipment: PC, scanners, voice mail and e-mail systems, and standard office machines, or ability to be trained.
Software Knowledge: Windows, MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
Knowledge of other software required: High proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly in Excel.


Preferred Skills/Experience:

Knowledge of Syspro ERP system is highly desired.
Experience of planning for development programs in an aerospace manufacturing environment highly desired.


Other:

Extended or irregular hours may be required.
Must be authorized to work in the United States.
