JOB SUMMARY:

This role is at a Dairy Foods manufacturing facility for Land O'Lakes, creating dairy products that stand for real, simple goodness. We believe there's power in every drop of milk our farmers produce, and by improving production and finding innovative uses for that milk, we add a little good to people's lives.

The PSM/Utilities Mechanic is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and support of the utilities area equipment. In this role, the technician will work with a variety of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems and controls. Superior logical-thinking and troubleshooting skills are critical. This position is critical to the safe and efficient operation of the facility.The PSM/Utilities mechanic will also be responsible for assisting with development of the preventive/ predictive maintenance program in this area.

HOURS:6am-6pm, Crew 2, 2-2-3

PAY: $30.84 to $35.71 per hour/DOE

BONUS: Total of $2,000 bonus

• $400 bonus after completing 90 day probationary period


• $600 bonus after completing 6 months of employment


• $1,000 bonus after completing 1 year of employment

EDUCATON:

* Must be high school graduate. Prefer associate degree in a Technical discipline, or comparable on the job industrial maintenance experience.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

* Prior diagnostic, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance experience

* Previous experience in a high-speed industrial work environment

* Working knowledge of Programmable Logic Control (PLC) and networking of controllers

* Some experience with mechanical systems, utilizing product manuals, troubleshooting mechanical breakdowns, and reading mechanical drawings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

* 18 years or older

* Strong Computer skills with various programs / platforms, i.e. Microsoft, Oracle, CAD, proprietary systems.

* Ability to demonstrate knowledge in their functions and ability to troubleshoot and fix system issues

* Self-reliant and able to accurately work under limited supervision

* Ensures a safe working environment while performing assigned tasks

* Customer focused and able to work in a collaborative team environment

* Ability to follow manufacturer's specifications and direction

* Strong communication skills both verbal and written

* Ability to read and interpret Piping and Instrument Diagrams

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

* Experience with basic electrical systems, boilers, air compressors, hydraulics, anhydrous ammonia refrigeration equipment, water treatment testing, both hot and chilled water systems, cooling towers, PLCs, VFDs, pneumatics, preventive maintenance, and pumps.

* Experience in industrial manufacturing maintenance

* Experience communicating technically detailed information to supervisor and production operators

* Experience in developing/documenting standard operating procedures, work practices and or training plans

* Working knowledge of various regulatory requirements including OSHA, FDA, PDA, EPA/DEP

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Working in a manufacturing or warehouse environment, you will be walking, standing and engaging in movement throughout the day, and occasionally to frequently be required to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. Due to a large variety of job duties (both routine and non-routine), certain duties also may involve, a variety of physical activities including bending, lifting, stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms above shoulders and head, standing, working in enclosed areas, climbing stairs or ladders, and operating heavy machinery. The noise level in the work environment can vary but noise is usually low to moderate.

At times, you may be required to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety gloves, hearing protection, a respirator or dust mask, protective footwear and protective clothing or uniforms. Work may be performed in cold and/or hot temperatures and the environment can be dusty. Physical requirements further include the ability to engage in productive and collaborative communication with co-workers and work may need to be performed during non-standard hours, including nights and weekends. At times, the ability to work overtime also may be required. The ability to perform these requirements is necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. JOB DUTIES:

• This position is responsible to use the Computer Managed Maintenance System tools and procedures to properly document all operating conditions, unscheduled repair efforts, scheduled preventative and scheduled predictive efforts.


• Confers with operators, contractors and management and observes, tests, and evaluates operation of machinery and equipment to diagnose cause of malfunction(s).


• Operates and maintains in good working order all components and equipment of the Utility systems that includes but, is not limited to the anhydrous ammonia refrigeration systems and Boiler Water systems, including completion of regulatory records and documentation.


• Individuals in this role will be required to participate in and complete advanced skills training for their work area. This includes successful completion of various testing and licensing elements as identified by Land O' Lakes, such as Licensed and/or Certified in anhydrous ammonia refrigeration / P.S. M. Level 2 operational technician.


• Must become proficient in knowledge and understanding of the 14 Elements of the P.S.M. program.


• Performs daily water treatment chemical testing; logs all test results and makes adjustments required to maintain established control targets.


• Interfaces with regulatory agencies such as but not limited to: state and federal government agencies, insurance inspectors and company inspectors.


• Disassembles machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs.


• Examines parts for defects, such as breakage or excessive wear.


• Repair, replace, adjust, and align components of machinery and equipment.


• Cleans and lubricates parts, equipment, and machinery.


• Test-runs repaired machinery and equipment to verify adequacy of repairs.


• Fabricates replacement parts.


• Welds to repair broken metal parts, fabricate new parts, and assemble new equipment.


• Records repairs and maintenance performed in an accurate and timely manner.


• Assists in the update and development of maintenance and operational procedures, LOTO procedures, and training plans.


• Assist in co-worker and or contractor training related to Utilities, safety and or PSM.


• Member of the P.S.M. team.
