Data Scientist Intern

Do you want to apply a passion for data wrangling, exploratory analysis, and advanced modeling techniques to solve a critical business problem for NI? Would you like to learn from a diverse team of experienced data scientists and engineers? Then this Data Science Internship is for you!
This summer, NI's Supply Chain Analytics team will be focused on improving our company's Demand Forecasting methodology. This exciting internship will be dedicated to developing a novel data modeling framework that will run in parallel with existing production processes. Our desire is to increase NI's forecast accuracy by at least 15-20% by leveraging NI's vast first-party data ecosystem (including customer, sales, product data domains), external economic indicators and/or more robust statistical forecasting models. This initiative is a high visibility project that will have an immediate and lasting impact on our business strategy and operational execution.
Responsibilities include
1. Building effective partnerships with business stakeholders and data team members
2. Gaining a deep understanding of the supply chain business strategy & operational processes
3. Improving a forecasting model through data set feature engineering and optimization of statistical functions and parameters
4. Developing visualizations to explain interim insights, and compare/contrast competing approaches
5. Communicating improvements and recommendations in an effective and concise manner (technical and non-technical audiences)
Expectations
• Have a passion for a dynamic and global working environment, be comfortable with ambiguity, and be solution-oriented
• Leverage technical and mathematical skills to develop forecasting model improvement recommendations
• Perform data wrangling tasks including profiling, acquisition, transformation, and enhancements of data from multiple sources
• Perform model development and model evaluation tasks with a recommendation for deployment
Requirements
• Minimum: Masters Degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Economics, or Statistics
