Job Description:

Lafayette Parish School System is declaring a critical shortage for the following position: 
School Psychologist (Certification required as a School Psychologist) 

Deadline to submit application is Friday, April 12th at 4:30pm.

Certification by the State Department of Education as a School Psychologist Director of Special Education, Principal, and Lead Pupil Appraisal Team Member To collect, assess, analyze individual student information in order to provide pre-placement evaluations and re-evaluations needed to plan appropriate educational programs for special needs students. 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Administers and interprets psychological tests.

Interprets school psychological services to parents and school personnel.

Provides written reports to all psychological evaluations. Assists teachers and other school personnel in the design and implementation of educational and behavioral intervention for referred students.

Provides individual or group therapy/counseling for those students whose identified problems would benefit from such services. Evaluates those students suspected of being in need of special educational services.

Coordinates the evaluation process for designated referred students.

Participates in special education eligibility determinations and IEP meetings.

Interprets assessment findings to parents and other persons authorized to receive such information.

Confers with parents and other school personnel on matters relative to assessment, behavior management, child development and any other areas within the expertise of the school psychological assistant.

Assists in in-service training of school personnel on topics related to working with exceptional children.

Cooperates with personnel of community health and social service agencies.

Maintains case records on all students regarding referrals, evaluations, and any other services provided by the school psychological assessment.

Attends staff, professional and interagency meetings.

Keeps abreast of new developments in the area of school psychology.

Performs other tasks and assumes responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Instruction and/or the Director of Special Education.

REQUIREMENTS OF WORK

Master’s degree

Valid certification as a Psychologist

Valid driver’s license

Working Days: Instructional According to the current Board approved Pupil Appraisal Salary Scale 202
