Job Description:

Kendal at Oberlin is a full-service life plan community, which primarily serves older adults in the Quaker tradition. Residents are assured a lifetime of healthcare including short- and long-term nursing services, memory care and assisted living. Equally important, residents enjoy an independent, enriching living experience.

Kendal at Oberlin's Facility Services Department is currently seeking an individual for the role of full time, 11p-7:30a, Maintenance Night Watch. The Maintenance Night Watch person will perform a variety of tasks relative to the general maintenance of equipment and repairs, as well as to maintain a safe and secure environment. More specifically, this role will be tasked with, including but not limited to:

• Safely operating, using and maintaining basic maintenance tools and power equipment.


• Respond quickly to medical, fire, weather and transportation emergencies.


• Respond to maintenance emergencies including heating, lighting, plumbing, etc.


• Perform inspection checks of boilers, pumps, air handlers, sprinkler systems, etc. for proper operation.


• Perform interior/exterior security checks.


• Securing and storing equipment when not in use.


• Ensuring safe storage and disposal of all waste, refuse, lubricants, etc.


• Reporting equipment in need of repair or replacement.

Qualifications and experience:

• Must be physically able to walk long distances, climb, bend, push, stoop, pull crawl, lift with no more than minor correctable deficiencies in sight and hearing.


• Must display good attention to detail and basic knowledge of housekeeping chemicals, equipment and cleaning/operating techniques.


• Must be self-motivated and able to work with little or no supervision.


• Must be able to work weekends and holidays as scheduled.


• Must be capable of working with people of all ages, genders and races.
