Job Description:

The ideal candidate for the Connected Services, Director of AI & ML role embodies Clarios’ behaviors and is driven to help create industry defining experiences for our customers.  Bringing a growth mindset, this position will oversee the development and implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) strategies within the Connected Services organization.  The role will require a combination of insatiable curiosity, strategic vision, technical expertise, force-multiplying leadership, and customer obsession to help build an incredibly valuable Connected Services business.  This leader will understand the product strategy / roadmap and help translate those needs into end-to-end solutions (people, process, and technology).  A deep technical understanding of what it takes to connect, collect, and manage data across many connected devices is critical to this position.  Additionally, you will collaborate closely with Global Customer & Technology teams to ensure seamless coordination and alignment of all Connected Services product initiatives globally.   

This position requires someone who is a self-starter, corporate explorer, fast learner, and customer champion.  A progressive track record with proven ability to lead / manage change, collaborate effectively across functions, communicate with impact, and excel in an ambiguous / fast-paced environment is a must.

  • Performance Metrics: Establishing and monitoring performance metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of AI and data science initiatives. 


  • Compliance and Ethics: Ensuring compliance with data protection regulations and ethical considerations in AI applications. 


  • Stakeholder Communication: Communicating complex AI concepts and results to non-technical stakeholders. 


  • Problem Solving: Using AI and data science to address business challenges and optimize operational processes. 


Roles and Responsibilities:


  • Key member of Connected Services Agile Business Team you will be responsible for designing and implementing AI/ML strategy and systems to support organizational initiatives


  • Lead and manage the AI/ML team, which may consist of internal and external resources


  • Oversee the end-to-end AI/ML lifecycle including data acquisition, preparation, model development, deployment, to and monitoring / evaluation


  • Ensuring the quality, reliability, scalability, and security of the AI/ML solutions and platforms


  • Establish the best practices, standards, and guidelines for AI/ML development and operations


  • Foster a culture of learning, experimentation, and excellence within the AI/ML team and the organization


  • Collaborate closely with the Software Development and Date Science teams to design, build, and implement AI/ML models that are accurate, efficient, scalable, and secure


  • Work with stakeholders to identify business needs and requirements, proposing technical solutions, and leading the implementation of the chosen solutions


  • Align with business stakeholders to identify business needs and requirements, and propose technical solutions that leverage AI/ML technologies


  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the organization's technical landscape, data infrastructure, and data processing pipelines


  • Work with the Data Science team to identify the appropriate algorithms and models for specific business problems, and implement them in production systems


  • Work with the Software Development and Global IT teams to integrate AI/ML systems with existing business applications and data systems


  • Develop and maintain documentation for AI/ML systems, including technical specifications, system architecture diagrams, and user guides


  • Ensure that AI/ML systems comply with relevant regulatory requirements, data privacy laws and industry standards


  • Keep up-to-date with emerging AI/ML technologies and assess their potential impact on the our technical landscape.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field


  • 10+ years of relevant work experience


  • 5+ years of experience in designing and implementing AI/ML systems in a commercial environment


  • 5+ years of experience as a team lead and people manager


  • Strong knowledge of AI/ML technologies, including deep learning, natural language processing, and computer vision


  • Strong knowledge of programming languages such as Python, R, Julia, Java


  • Strong knowledge of data processing and storage technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, and NoSQL databases


  • Proven experience with AI/ML frameworks and libraries: TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, Keras, PySpark, H2O…


  • Significant experience with cloud computing platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP


  • Deep experience with devOps tools: Git, Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform


  • Proven experience with MLOps tools: Kubeflow, MLflow, TensorFlow Serving, TorchServe…


  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and solve complex technical problems


  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders across the organization


  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to lead a team of technical professionals
