We are seeking a Communications Coordinator to join our team. In this role you will support the communications and public relations efforts at Gannett by driving key initiatives and business objectives across Editorial, Digital Marketing Solutions, Advertising, Product, Innovation, Events providing support in the delivery of high-quality, timely communications.

The role reports to the Communications and Social Media Manager, with a focus on media relations and social media support. This person will have media relations experience pitching stories, shaping messaging, monitoring for coverage, working with external PR/communications agencies.

Base Salary: $55,000 - $60,000/annually

The ideal candidate is creative, a strong writer, detail-oriented, solid multi-tasker and must have a strong track record for results.

  • Support Communications team members with standards, processes, and the right infrastructure to have the biggest possible impact
  • Draft press releases, blog posts and other press materials when needed
  • Compose media pitches and work to secure earned coverage of Gannett initiatives
  • Media list maintenance
  • Provide assistance in award and speaking proposal submissions
  • Ensure employee messaging is consistent to build commitment and engagement around the business strategy
  • Work to establish and continuously refine the corporate narrative, with clear, compelling, and consistent messages to support the brand and corporate reputation
  • Monitor and track media coverage of the business and brands
  • Participate in production of employee events such as quarterly town halls, annual company employee awards and other events as needed
  • Brainstorm social media strategies for tentpole events and support social channels when needed
  • Help monitor corporate social media channels

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years working in in public relations or corporate communications with either agency and/or in-house experience
  • Experience with media monitoring and working with PR tools such as Cision and Critical Mention
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities combined with effective interpersonal skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Understanding of social media and how to leverage each channel
  • Maintain a hustle mindset and a passion to learn

The annualized base salary for this role will range between $38,700 and$81,000. Base compensation is reflective of many factors, including, but not limited to, the market in which one lives/works, individual education level, skills, certifications and experience. Note: variable compensation is not reflected in these figures and based on the role, may be applicable.
