Director of Sales

Intertek is searching for a Director of Sales to join our Electrical team in our Lake Forest, CA office. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in Sales!

The Director of Sales is responsible for managing the sales team for an assigned location or business line. This position is also responsible for developing and implementing the sales strategy for an assigned location or business line

What you'll do:


  • Provide management for the sales team, including recruiting; hiring; developing and implementing training programs; coaching and mentoring team members; developing professional growth and development plans; and implementing corrective action or termination when appropriate.
  • Act as an expert and mentor for solutions selling and relationship management.
  • Attend high level and/or key meetings with the sales team for prospective and/or current customers.
  • Effectively resolve customer issues; Research and identify root cause of customer issues and work with appropriate stakeholders to implement corrective actions for future orders/projects.
  • Develop and implement a synergized sales strategy with operations to ensure the achievement of Intertek's financial targets. Ensure an effective sales/operations relationship at all levels.
  • Effectively communicate and promote Intertek's sales vision and strategy in a clear and concise manner.
  • Track and report on sales related metrics, including sales activities; quote and order activity; order and revenue forecasting.
  • Determine sales focus, territory, and order and/or revenue quotas for sales team. Monitor regularly and make adjustments as needed.
  • Reassign accounts and/or redistribute order and/or revenues quotas as needed due to customer requests, complaints or changes in team scope, services offerings or capabilities.
  • In conjunction with Finance, validate commission payments each month, including ensuring revenue allocation is accurate.
  • My assist with lead routing depending on location and/or business line.
  • Perform other duties as required

What it takes to be successful in this role:

  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years relevant experience, or 10+ years relevant experience, including sales, industry, and trade associations.
  • Prefer prior management experience, including hiring and firing authority and participating in strategy development and implementation.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal, written and presentation formats.
  • Ability to deliver high level presentations to prospects, customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to work closely with operational business partners to understand the financial landscape and tailor the sales strategy to meet the operations needed of the business, achieve financial targets and deliver on shareholder commitments.
  • Ability to engage effectively with management, clients and subordinates.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and demanding deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and organize daily task and efficiently manage time
  • Ability to multi-task is essential
  • Must be able to confront and resolve conflict.
  • Must be able to influence others and bring teams together to achieve a common goal.
  • Must be able to work cross functionally with other groups to achieve common goals.
  • Must be customer focused and quality driven.
  • Must display a high level of personal integrity and credibility.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and safe driving record.
  • Ability to travel as business needs dictate, up to 50% of the time.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time to perform all clerical functions inherent to the position.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

The base wage or salary range for this position is $160K - $190K . Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons. In addition to competitive compensation packages, Intertek employees are eligible for a variety of benefits including paid time off, paid holidays, paid parental leave, medical plan options, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, a 401(k) plan with company matching, tuition reimbursement, and more.
