Position Summary

The Managing Director works in both a consulting role and business development role within Epiq’s Corporate Restructuring division in New York. This role has responsibility for implementation of our consulting services strategy for the unit and will identify as well as drive new business opportunities for the segment.  The purpose of this position is to leverage expertise, knowledge and relationships in the bankruptcy and restructuring markets to develop and strengthen our consulting execution as well utilizing relationships to drive sales.

             

Essential Job Responsibilities


  • Identify consulting processes and design as well as implement improvements.

  • Lead key engagements and develop staff

  • Identify, select and strategically market to key prospects to begin the sales process.

  • Attend Epiq-sponsored client events to develop relationships and facilitate relationships among other industry professionals who have similarly aligned goals, while seeking industry feedback and monitoring competitor services, branding and marketing approaches.

  • Develop and maintain an accurate list of prospects/clients as well as related activities on a weekly basis within our Corporate Restructuring Management system.

  • Educate clients and prospects regarding all of our corporate restructuring services via on-site client visits, conferences, events, etc.  Build and communicate an understanding of Epiq’s other service offerings (i.e., Class Action and E-Discovery) to facilitate cross-selling opportunities.

  • Provide personal support/sponsorship for select key client relationships.

  • Schedule and hold meetings with key decision makers at targeted high-profile accounts, leveraging existing relationships and developing new ones with key decision-makers and influencers within targeted debtor’s counsel, financial advisory firms, investment bankers and private equity groups that deliver on revenue expectations.

  • Identify key trends to identify top prospects and proactively pursue new business based upon predictions of future bankruptcy-related activity.

  • Help build the messaging to these top prospects that incorporates Epiq’s capabilities in a holistic enterprise offering.

  • Partner with key executives and business partners to develop integrated business development strategy.

  • Regularly and proactively communicate to segment’s leadership team on the status of key projects and initiatives

  • Coordinate with the Marketing team to construct an integrated campaign to open doors and successfully secure appointments with key individuals or groups.

  • Manage a team of Business Development Professionals

  • Create a stimulating goals-driven and performance-oriented environment. 

  • Develop and maintain an operating environment in which proper quality controls for execution, accuracy and timeliness of work are practiced and consistently measured.

  • Manage within the approved budget (including staffing/compensation costs).

  • Promote Epiq’s corporate culture and values through exemplary leadership and frequent one-on-one coaching of staff. Contribute to the effective coordination efforts and best practices between all Epiq businesses.

  • Ensure that qualitative and quantitative service performance goals and metrics are in place within the Business Development team.

  • Drive performance management by recognizing and rewarding stellar performance as well as effectively managing performance deficiencies.

  • Provide value-added guidance and support to other leaders in a consultative, mutually supportive manner.

Requirements for the role include:


  • Existing substantial relationships within the industry that can be leveraged.

  • The ability to secure and hold high-level business meetings with key individuals such as General Counsel (GC), Assistant General Counsel, partners, MD’s, COO’s,  CIO’s and C-level  prospects.

  • The ability to collaborate internally to coordinate the selection of high potential prospects.

  • A strong understanding of the bankruptcy and restructuring markets and restructuring processes.

  • The ability to partner with a field sales team to effectively transition a prospect into a selling/close discussion.

  • A track record of effectively managing a team of individuals to identify, target and approach high potential prospects.

Education & Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree required.  JD, MBA or other advanced degree preferred.

  • Minimum 15 years practicing as a bankruptcy attorney, turn-around professional, or business development professional with experience selling to law firms, investment banks and other financial institutions is desired.
