Construction Quality/Commissioning Manager at Schneider Electric USA, Inc in Phoenix, Arizona

Job Description:

As a Construction Project Quality Manager, you will engage a project before, during, and post-construction to ensure the final deliverable meets or exceeds the design intent and customer expectations. Based on the project requirements, you will create, own, implement, and maintain a quality control (QC) plan, create documents and forms to track issues, generate specific quality reports, and supervise, and provide guidance to our site teams overseeing construction.

The Construction Project Quality Manager will work in a fast-paced environment requiring intentional diligence. They must be calm and effective without sacrificing quality while guiding our implementation teams. This role is detail-oriented, dependable, and enjoys solving problems . The role requires excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate with the implementation team, subcontractors, customer, and all stakeholders.

Duties/Responsibilities:


  • Create and implement a project-specific quality control plan.

  • Develop, gather, maintain, review, submit and generate project documents.

  • Mesh with the SE onsite project team to ensure that subcontractors commit to and participate actively in project quality assurance.

  • Review all subcontractor quality plans including the coordination, performance, and executing construction inspections, testing services, startup and commissioning of installed work and documentation.

  • Lead the SE onsite project team by providing training, mentoring and guidance for quality inspections throughout the project lifecycle including:


    • Ensure workmanship meets or exceeds the contractual requirements.

    • Strategize, schedule, and conduct multiple inspections during construction including Preparatory Meetings, Initial Inspections, Follow-up Inspections, and Final Inspections.

    • Schedule, coordinate, and document all required code and independent inspections. Clearly document, correct, and re-inspect all exceptions prior to cover work.

    • Gather and publish all inspection documents in a final report.

    • Inspect and report any damaged and defective materials and address accordingly.

    • Inspect, verify, and document project materials and equipment match the approved submittals, are handled and stored responsibly, and approved for installation.

    • Stop work, reject materials or equipment, and direct the removal and replacement of any work failing to comply with contract documents, applicable codes, building standards, or best construction practices Issuance of non-conformance and or project work deficiencies where required.

    • Inspect and evaluate the work against the approved plans, specifications, and contract documents, reporting deficiencies, and elevating issues to ensure the highest quality result.

    • Review as-built drawings to ensure accuracy and document deviations requiring correction before final acceptance.

    • Provide Quality Control & Commissioning Reports documenting the that the installed work meets the desired outcome of the project.

    • Safety: Report any potential threats to life or property to the site team.


  • Collaborate and communicate professionally with all trades, manufacturers, suppliers, construction staff, and customer representatives

Minimum Requirements:


  • Ability to visit project sites, climb ladders, kneel, enter confined work areas and be near loud equipment.

  • Travel Required: 40%-60% to support projects throughout the western United States.

  • Advanced experience reading and interpreting plans, specifications, and equipment documentation.

  • Experience and understanding construction including General, Civil, Structural, Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC, and Building Automation Systems (BAS).

  • Candidate should possess (1) of the following


    • Degree from an accredited University or technical in construction management, construction science, engineering, or related field.

    • At least 5 years verifiable experience as a Quality Manager, Commissioning Agent.


  • USACE Construction Quality Control Management is a plus

  • Certified Commissioning Authority (CxA) with AABC Commissioning Group (ACG), or Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP) with Building Commissioning Association (BCxA) or Building Commissioning Professional Certification (BCxP) with ASHRAE is a plus.

  • Experienced technical writer capable of drafting clear, detailed reports.

  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.

  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Experience using Procore and other document management applications.

  • Uncompromising commitment to safety. Current OSHA 30-hour and First Aid/CPR certification required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire.

  • Must pass all Schneider Electric and customer required security background checks.
