Role:

The Robotic Process Automation (RPA) Developer plays a pivotal role in facilitating business process automation and enhancing operation efficiencies within Empower. The RPA Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automation solutions to optimize business processes. They will collaborate with cross-functional teams, analyze requirements, design, develop, test, and deploy RPA bots that deliver measurable improvements to various business functions across the organization.

The RPA Developer employs data analysis to identify automation opportunities and produces comprehensive documentation outlining recommendations for process enhancements and automation. Moreover, they offer invaluable project support throughout the software development lifecycle, ensuring seamless coordination of testing and implementation support for automated processes.

The RPA Developer collaborates closely with departmental stakeholders to assess and refine procedures, fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Effective communication and collaboration with credit union executives, management, project teams, business partners, and vendors are an essential component of this role. Given the dynamic nature of Robotic Process Automation, the ideal candidate must exhibit adaptability and proficiency in managing a diverse range of responsibilities while leveraging effective tools to drive impactful change to the organization. The RPA Developer will be an integral part of a team operating in a start-up like environment with the unique opportunity to influence, direct, and own its growth.

Our headquarters location is based in Syracuse, New York. For local candidates, we work Hybrid (5-days on-site with the remaining work-from-home).

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

 70%      Automation Workflow Development and Maintenance

Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain automation workflows solutions to address specific business needs and create efficiencies to meet business objectives, primarily through RPA solutions. Support and monitor existing automations, remediate production issues, and implement change requests as part of a structured change control process. Participate in regular RPA Platform maintenance, upgrade activities, and system roles.

10%       Process Analysis and Documentation

Research, document, validate and analyze data, information and content around business processes. Study operational and performance data to identify trends and opportunities for process automation. Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather and document automation requirements, ensuring a clear understanding of processes and objectives.

10%       Project Support and Coordination 

Support RPA project manager to ensure timely delivery, meeting high-quality standards. Work within project planning constraints, communicate identified project risks and issues to the project manager, and provide inputs to the change control process.

10%       Robotics Center of Excellence

Contribute to Robotics Center of Excellence deliverables and assist in institutionalizing RPA across the Enterprise.

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience: 5+ years of Robotic Process Automation experience utilizing Microsoft Power Automate, UiPath, Blue Prism or Automation Anywhere

5+ developing software solutions with programming related experience, including designing, configuring, testing, and deploying new systems or automation solutions, and minimal project management experience.

2+ years programming language experience in C#, JavaScript, Visual Basics. Net, R, Python, SQL, or other languages preferred.

2+ years of similar or related experience in the financial services industry.

Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.

An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be accepted in place of the criteria listed above.

Interpersonal Skills: A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Work may involve motivating, influencing or training others.

Other Skills:

1. Process Analysis: Strong analytical, quantitative, and information sourcing skills to analyze complex business processes and identify opportunities for automation.

2. Bot Development: Designing and developing automation workflows using Microsoft Power Automate following software development best practices, user experience design (UX) principles and adherence to software and system development lifecycle (SDLC). Familiarity with Agile, DevOps practices, CI/CD pipeline integration, and Azure DevOps preferred.

3. Integration: Experience in integrating process automation solutions with multiple enterprise systems and Rest APIs with focus on understanding system dependencies as they relate to Change Management.

4. Bot Deployment: Implementing and deploying bots on the target systems.

5. Testing and Debugging: Strong problem-solving skills and ability to develop comprehensive testing plans and perform thorough testing of RPA bots to ensure their accuracy, reliability, and robustness.

6. Maintenance and Monitoring: Proactively monitor the performance of active bots, making updates as necessary, and ensuring ongoing reliability. Providing Hypercare to ensure < 1% downtime.

7. Data Analysis & Reporting: Database understanding and ability to perform operations on data sets. Proficiency in developing analytics dashboards to measure Bot output and performance.

8. Documentation: Technical/Professional writing skills essential to create detailed RPA Business Cases, documentation of RPA solutions, including design specifications, system dependencies, bugs, user manuals, and maintenance guides.

9. Process Mapping: Familiarity with Process flow and engineering diagraming tools, such as Microsoft Visio, Lucidchart, etc.

10. Microsoft Power Automate Platform: Proficiency in using Power Automate and PowerApps.

11. Process Understanding: Ability to understand and document complex business processes.

12. Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify automation opportunities, address technical challenges and optimize automation solutions.

13. Attention to Detail: Because RPA involves automating repetitive tasks, attention to detail is crucial to ensure accuracy.

14. Strong organization and self-management skills, willing to take initiative and follow through.

15. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on the latest RPA and automation trends and technologies, recommending improvements and enhancements to existing processes. Willingness to continuously learn new technical skills and solve complex problems.

16. Communication Skills: Ability to clearly explain technical and analytical information to various audiences (including various levels of management and vendors) in a professional environment.

Physical Requirements: Extended working hours may be required.

Periodic travel between branches and travel to conferences and seminars which may be out of town.
