Job Summary



The Multimedia Photographer will plan, shoot, edit, and share photographs for a variety of marketing and communications purposes under the supervision of the Digital Media Specialist. Photos will be used on digital and print campaigns, social media, websites, email campaigns, signage, décor, and more.


Department Specific Responsibilities


  • Covers everything from major university events to departmental functions, and marketing campaign shoots.

  • Photography of using a DSLR camera: Events and programs for immediate use on social platforms, campaigns, websites, archiving, and more. People, places, and scenes for advertising campaigns. Portraits, campus, and other scenes as necessary, enhancing our collection of photographs and b-roll video footage.

  • Edits and shares photo collections with clients and the team promptly, sometimes same-day edits for posting on social media and other platforms

  • Maintains structure of photo libraries to optimize search capabilities

  • Works closely with various members of the marketing team and professional staff/clients from around the Office of Student Life.

  • Participates in various meetings, workshops, critiques, and brainstorming sessions as necessary.




Qualifications



EDUCATION



Required



  • Currently enrolled at Indiana University

SKILLS



Required



  • Solid understanding of DSLR cameras, lighting, and gathering audio

  • Experience editing photos with Adobe Photoshop, Camera Raw, and Photo Mechanic

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to cover some evening and weekend events as well as maintaining some office hours

  • Fine attention to detail

  • Professionalism, dependability, and respect for others

  • Exceptional decision-making skills and autonomy

  • Exceptional written and communication skills

  • Performs well in a team-oriented, collaborative atmosphere

  • Strong sense of curiosity and creativity

  • Motivated and creative individual: strives for ongoing improvement and is passionate about learning

  • Ability to receive constructive criticism in order to improve your skillset


Preferred



  • Desire to improve constantly and learn more about photography

  • Lengthy experience photographing events in all shooting environments

  • Experience with video, video editing, and digital image editing

  • Experience creating interactive graphics with Adobe After Effects

  • Being comfortable directing others, including full-time staff and management

  • Understanding of effective marketing tactics

  • Experience shooting and editing video (Experience editing videos with Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects)




Working Conditions / Demands



This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
