Manager, Manufacturing Systems - Americas at Baltimore Aircoil Company in Jessup, Maryland

Job Description:

The Manager, Manufacturing Systems – Americas is responsible for the overall management of the core manufacturing systems for the Americas region to ensure system capacity and capability readiness for growth of our financial and operational results. This will entail managing a team of System engineers and programming personnel to effectively meet demand from the plants along with integrating new solutions, key changes, and system optimization into the manufacturing process.

Overall, the role is responsible for leading the definition, specification, development, and sustainment of regional world class manufacturing systems and Operational Technologies (OT) in our factories. This leader possesses a high level of expertise in high-variation, low-volume manufacturing processes and systems along with influencing skills to guide BAC’s regional operations teams to deploy, embed, actively utilize, and sustain robust systems. This leader will establish a visionary framework, working closely with the Global and other Regional Systems functions for how manufacturing-related systems interact, manage critical data and present analytics to drive high operational performance within a comprehensive regional network.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES


  • Ensure manufacturing system roadmaps and timelines are aligned with the business and manufacturing strategies.

  • Drive the Americas region to optimize and integrate manufacturing system launches into the Americas manufacturing plants and associated Supply Chain partners.

  • Adequately resource the department with the appropriate knowledge and skills to support plant production demand without disruption to quality and timeliness.

  • Leader in developing and implementing plans and projects to ensure that manufacturing systems capacity and capability meets the needs of our business plans and growth strategies.

  • Ensure the Americas Manufacturing Engineering and plant buy-in for implementations while accelerating deployment with positive impact to key performance measures.

  • Responsible for Manufacturing Systems documentation and control associated with standards, performance data, and system related operating procedures.

  • Key partner with Operations and the manufacturing plants on shared initiatives and goals that drive improved manufacturing performance through growth and key performance measures.

  • Develop and sustain a report with operational leaders to maintain awareness of improvement opportunities and needs at the plant and regional level.

  • Enable change management to keep pace with accelerating business change, such as New Product Introductions (NPI), by managing flexible systems and process data frameworks.

  • Partner with other Global and Regional manufacturing systems functions to drive harmonization and standardization.

  • Support smart factory systems development and deployment.

  • Partner with Global Business Systems and ERP teams to select software solutions and provide maintenance to sustain robust systems over time.

 

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS


  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or industrial related field

  • 10+ years of experience in high variability, low volume hard goods manufacturing environment with 5+ years in leading and management of manufacturing systems in that environment

  • Demonstrated manufacturing systems definition, specification, development, integration, and management experience, including: ERP, MES/MOM, machine programming and labor/material routing/tracking.

  • Demonstrated project management skill and sound technical judgment.

  • Experience employing continuous improvement tools, including Lean, in a manufacturing environment.

  • Demonstrated organizational collaborator, implementing technologies in multiple plants.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Deep understanding of OT systems and automation technologies and language while having the ability to normalize information that is meaningful to the rest of the business.

  • Capability to relentlessly drive to overachieve and making the most of the resources available, a team player who can roll-up his/her sleeves to get the job done.

  • Strong Internal/External customer focus orientation to drive the successful achievement of targeted business results.

  • Willing to shift between strategic work and executing tactically to deliver results.

  • Ability to influence, negotiate, and build consensus in order to make key decisions.

  • Courage to have difficult discussions with groups from all levels of the organization.
