Responsibilities

  • Drive on-time, in-full delivery, and continuity of supply through coordination and collaboration across the supply chain.
  • Optimize supplier delivery schedules and inventory levels by expediting or deferring material in accordance with changes in demand.
  • Utilize SAP and legacy system to effectively review and release purchase orders for the purpose of procuring raw, semi-finished goods and services.
  • Create and execute schedule agreements or consignment structures.
  • Ensure acknowledgments and order confirmations are in place to minimize supply disruption.
  • Enable operational excellence through the control of master data relating to purchasing information.
  • Provide core product commodity support working with the Sourcing team for cost control, cost savings, supplier quality and development and P2P initiatives.
  • Communicate forecasts to suppliers and ensure contract details, terms, conditions, and delivery are fair and favorable for MSA.
  • Partner with the Transportation team on effective freight use and spend.
  • Utilize MSA's internal business system to correctly identify root cause of problems and drive corrective action results.


Qualifications

Special knowledge, skills and abilities required:

  • Demonstrated innovative and technological mindset to ensure master data integrity and accuracy, seek out latest industry trends, road-map future technology and champion early adoption.

  • Proven success in building partnerships, influencing others, and communicating effectively both in verbal and written form, seeking diverse perspectives, and strong emotional intelligence to enable cross functional collaboration.
  • Ability to prioritize personal development by modeling a growth mindset, demonstrating openness to feedback, and pursuing ongoing learning.
  • Ability to travel approximately 10% domestically.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field.
  • This position is available at three different career levels:
    • Level one: less than 2 years of purchasing experience. This level will focus on expediting/exception management, master data entry and maintenance, and indirect requisition conversion responsibilities.
    • Level two: 2 years of purchasing experience. The level with will focus on medium level spend and supply chain complexity through interactions with tactical to critical suppliers.
    • Level three: 4+ years of purchasing experience. This level will focus on high level spend and supply chain complexity through interactions with critical to strategic suppliers.

Preferred:

  • Experience using SAP or ABS for material resource planning.
  • Advanced skills with Excel based on level of experience.
  • Experience in low volume / high mix direct material purchasing in a versatile manufacturing and distribution environment.
  • Experience with strategic supplier relationships and new product development projects.
  • ISM CIPS/CPSM and/or ASCM: CPIM/CSCP accreditation.
