Department Information



The College of Arts + Sciences Recruiting Office collaborates with the College's Executive Dean, senior College leadership, faculty and staff, and current students and alumni, as well as a wide array of other campus partners, to develop and implement strategies for attracting students to the College's programs of study. The College of Arts and Sciences is the largest academic unit at Indiana University Bloomington. Job Summary



Department Specific Responsibilities


  • Provides extensive administrative support for the College's Recruiting Office and works closely with the admission process.

  • Conducts informational meetings for students and parents to provide detailed information about the College, such as direct admission and scholarship opportunities.

  • Serves as a resource to answer prospective students' and parent' questions, planning on- and off-campus events related to recruiting prospective students, managing customized prospective student visits, and assisting with admission and scholarship communication and administration.

  • Maintains information sessions and event schedules, booking staff meetings, preparing documents and presentations, and providing support in an office where customer service skills are essential.

  • Responsible for critical daily office operations, including initiating and maintaining essential student coding for incoming students and College scholarship recipients, ensuring data is accurate, complete, and up-to-date.

  • Regularly responsible for facilitating presentations about the College of Arts + Sciences to groups of prospective students and families. Confidently presents information alone or in collaboration with Student Ambassadors and College staff. Engaging and relational public speaking skills are a must.

  • Serves as a liaison with other departments and external entities.

  • Assists in processing scholarship award and renewal communication.

General Responsibilities


  • Oversees the processing and evaluation of all applications for admissions into that school and accompanying material, such as transcripts, to determine eligibility.

  • Maintains records and databases of applications; updates and purges as necessary; gathers and collates information from records and prepares reports.

  • Reviews applications for completeness, contacts applicants for any missing information or to resolve discrepancies, and obtains any necessary information from other sources.

  • Schedules and oversees any applicant interviews.

  • Makes recommendations regarding admissions and financial aid decisions; contacts applicant regarding the decision on the admission application.

  • Responds to phone and email inquiries on admissions process and status of applications; may assist in the design of recruiting events and materials.

  • Counsels potential students regarding courses and grades required for admission.

  • May supervise temporary staff in the admissions office; monitors and evaluates job performance.

  • Maintains files and databases on students admitted into the school; generates reports based on this information.

  • May take on escalated and complex issues; may provide guidance to other admissions staff.

EDUCATION



Required



  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)

WORK EXPERIENCE



Required



  • 4 years office or related experience


Preferred



  • Office experience in an area related to student enrollment services such as admissions, recruitment, marketing, financial aid, program development and/or enrollment management

Working Conditions / Demands



This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

$40,000 - $42,000 Annually
